When the 78km Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway is completed, the North - South expressway from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City will be connected, helping vehicles travel between the two cities in just 4-5 hours.
Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Expressway is one of three North - South Expressway projects phase 1 implemented under the public - private partnership (PPP) method, nearly 99% completed, preparing to open to traffic on the occasion of April 30 and May 1 holidays. The project has a total investment of nearly VND9,000 billion and started construction on September 30, 2021. According to the plan, the construction unit must complete the bridge and road works after 24 months from the commencement date, but many items have been delayed. In the photo, a section of the highway runs through the wind farm area in Ninh Thuan province. The project is 78.5km long, passing through 3 provinces: Khanh Hoa (nearly 5km), Ninh Thuan (63km), Binh Thuan (nearly 12km), invested by the joint venture Deo Ca Group - Company 194. The starting point of the route is in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district (Binh Thuan), connecting with Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, in the direction from South to North. The route is designed with a road surface width of about 17m, with a scale of 4 lanes. Emergency lanes are arranged at intervals of 4-5km/point, with a speed of 90km/h. Because the highway runs through semi-mountainous terrain, during construction, contractors had to level mountains, dig hills, install a positive slope system, ensure drainage and prevent landslides. On the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao route, there is a section passing through Vung Mountain tunnel, 2.25km long, including 2 tunnels, each with 3 lanes, 14m wide, phase 1 uses the right tunnel. After completion, this will be the 4th longest tunnel in the country after Hai Van, Deo Ca and Cu Mong tunnels. Vung Mountain Tunnel has been dug and cleared in 2 branches by Deo Ca Group since August 2023. At the right tunnel branch, the excavation work has reached 100%, the tunnel shell concrete has reached 100% and the road surface concrete has reached more than 100%. In addition, the project also has an intelligent traffic system ITS with many cameras that can observe and clearly see objects at a distance of 1km, continuously recorded 24/7 in all weather conditions. Among them, wind rose devices to measure wind speed and direction are also installed along both sides of the highway. At this time, workers are installing anti-glare (anti-glare) nets along the median strip. This is a type of traffic safety material that helps drivers not be dazzled by the light of oncoming vehicles. Deo Ca Group mobilized more than 800 engineers, workers and 200 machines and equipment and completed many items 1 month ahead of schedule. Previously, this unit had brought more than 41/78.5km of the main route to the finish line by the end of 2023. The entire route has two interchanges including Du Long (pictured) and Phan Rang. Du Long interchange connects the administrative center of Thuan Bac district, Du Long Industrial Park... Mr. Dang Tien Thang - Deputy General Director of Cam Lam - Vinh Hao Joint Stock Company said that thanks to the efforts of the joint venture contractor to speed up the progress, the project progress is currently at nearly 99%, striving to complete the project on April 30. The Vinh Hao - Cam Lam section, when completed, will connect a strip with the inaugurated expressways: Long Thanh - Dau Giay, Dau Giay - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao and Cam Lam - Nha Trang.
