The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold the funeral of former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan with state funeral rites.

The Party Central Committee Secretariat also decided to establish a 26-member State Funeral Committee, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.
The coffin of former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan lies at the National Funeral Home (No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi).
The visitation will be held from 8:00 to 1:30 p.m. on June 27 (ie May 10, Quy Mao year). The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on June 27. The burial will be at 3:00 p.m. the same day at Mai Dich Cemetery (Hanoi).
Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan was born on October 7, 1937, in Phu Xuyen District (Hanoi). He was a member of the Party Central Committee, 7th, 8th, 9th tenures; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, 9th tenure; National Assembly delegate, 11th tenure; Deputy Prime Minister (August 2002 - June 2006).
Mr. Vu Khoan has held the positions of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Trade, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of foreign economic relations, Chairman of the National Committee on APEC.

In 1990, Mr. Vu Khoan was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. At the 7th Party Congress (1991), he was elected to the Party Central Committee. In 1998, Mr. Vu Khoan was assigned as First Deputy Minister in charge of relations with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, relations with ASEAN, ASEM, APEC, research, economic cooperation, consular affairs, law, press, and training.
In 2000, Mr. Vu Khoan was awarded the title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary by the President. In January 2000, he was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Trade. In August 2002, he was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed Deputy Prime Minister, assigned to be in charge of foreign economic relations, and Chairman of the National Committee on APEC.
At the 8th Party Congress (1996), Mr. Vu Khoan continued to be elected to the 8th Party Central Committee. At the 9th Party Congress (2001), he continued to be elected to the Party Central Committee and the Secretariat. Mr. Vu Khoan was a delegate to the 11th National Assembly.
In June 2006, the National Assembly approved his dismissal from the position of Deputy Prime Minister due to health reasons. In 2007, former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan retired in Hanoi.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan was awarded many noble titles by the Party and State: First-class Independence Medal, First-class Labor Medal, Second-class Resistance War Medal against America for National Salvation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Title, 60-year Party membership badge in November 2021.
Mr. Vu Khoan was awarded by the Governments of many countries: Medal of Friendship of Peoples (former Soviet Union), Medal of Freedom, First Class (Laos), Medal of the Rising Sun (Japan).
