Speaking at the working session of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee with the Standing Committee of the Dong Ha City Party Committee on the organization of the ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to recognize Dong Ha City as a class II urban area this afternoon, August 27, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri Province Nguyen Dang Quang requested that the organization of the ceremony must ensure solemnity, meaning and practicality, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people. On August 8, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 813/QD-TTg on recognizing Dong Ha City as a class II urban area, directly under Quang Tri province. To celebrate this important event, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee reported to request the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to organize a ceremony to announce the decision and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the establishment of Dong Ha City (1929 - 2024).
Accordingly, the ceremony is expected to be held at the end of September 2024 or the end of October 2024. There are expected to be 949 guests, including central and non-provincial guests, local guests from Laos, and guests within the province. The program includes the announcement ceremony and the handover of the Prime Minister's decision and a special art program "Dong Ha, the echo of a new day".
Through the celebration activities and the organization of the announcement ceremony to promote propaganda and education on the historical and cultural traditions, the process of building and developing Dong Ha urban area, and the achievements in all fields of socio-economics, national defense and security of the city. This is also an opportunity to promote and introduce to a large number of officials, people in and outside the province, domestic and foreign tourists to know that Dong Ha city is recognized by the Prime Minister as a type II urban area.
The Standing Committee of the Dong Ha City Party Committee proposed that the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee agree on the name "Ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision to recognize Dong Ha City as a type II urban area and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the establishment of Dong Ha City (1929-2024)"; pay attention and agree on the provincial budget to support the city to carry out the tasks.
Based on the discussion and contributions at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang agreed on the name "Ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision to recognize Dong Ha City as a class II urban area, directly under Quang Tri province and celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Dong Ha City (2009-2024)". Regarding the organization of the ceremony, it is necessary to ensure solemnity, meaning and practicality, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people.
Regarding the number of guests, it is advisable to invite a maximum of 200 people, with priority given to guests who are outstanding citizens who have made many contributions to the city in various fields. The art program is organized on a small and meaningful scale.
The most important thing, according to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang, is that the city needs to focus on allocating resources to carry out practical and specific tasks such as: speeding up the progress and completing key projects and works in the area according to the public investment plan; taking care of the lives and housing of the poor and policy beneficiaries; improving the living environment and quality of life for people; improving the quality of human resources, criteria on education and health; investing in people's infrastructure, cultural infrastructure, tourism; and combating drug abuse.
Focus on reviewing and evaluating environmental criteria, especially in industrial clusters managed by the city; handling shortcomings and problems in urban infrastructure; improving criteria for public toilets, water sources...
Agree on the policy of broadcasting the program live on Quang Tri Radio and Television (QRTV) to serve the people; assign the Department of Finance to balance and arrange funding for Dong Ha City to organize the above event.
