NDO - Car Free Day (Japan) visited Bach Thuan garden village (Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province) for the second time to discuss with district leaders about the direction of developing community ecotourism in the coming time.
In March 2023, Bach Thuan commune held a conference to orient the planning and roadmap for building a community eco-tourism garden village. This is the result of the coordination between the Provincial Tourism Association, the People's Committee of Bach Thuan commune and the Car Free Day Organization (Japan).
This time, Car Free Day Organization had more in-depth discussions and sharing about community ecotourism development for local authorities to refer to, thereby clearly planning goals as well as a roadmap for building a model associated with reality.
In Bach Thuan, there are still dozens of ancient houses that are over 100 years old. |
Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Phong, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Vu Thu district, said: We determine that the viewpoint of developing ecotourism in Bach Thuan must be placed in the overall socio-economic development plan of the province, the district and other plans in accordance with the direction of the Party and the State.
Accordingly, tourism development should create conditions for farming households to become service providers for tourism activities in the commune. Ecotourism development should go hand in hand with preserving and promoting the long-standing traditional cultural values of the local people. In addition, tourism development should do a good job of preserving the natural environment, reducing over-consumption of resources, and minimizing waste.

He shared his experience in developing ecotourism in France, Japan and Hoi An; suggested to the district leaders and leaders of Bach Thuan commune directions for developing ecotourism in accordance with the existing advantages of the garden village. In particular, he emphasized that Bach Thuan garden village has many advantages for developing ecotourism such as: beautiful scenery, preserving many traditional cultural values, etc.
Other members of the delegation also reminded the locality that in order to develop sustainable tourism, special attention should be paid to preserving the originality of the architecture; not disrupting the overall planning. Ecotourism development must originate from the people themselves, following a certain orientation.
Previously, Car Free Day Organization coordinated with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering to survey routes for bicycle tourism development projects, aiming at developing green and sustainable tourism.
