After more than 10 years of implementing Directive No. 40-CT/TW of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over social credit policy work, the Standing Committee of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee has actively and synchronously deployed many appropriate contents and solutions in each stage.
Up to now, the local budget capital entrusted to the Social Policy Bank of Dong Thap province is more than 685 billion VND, an increase of more than 633 billion VND compared to before implementing Directive No. 40-CT/TW.
Over the past 10 years, the total lending turnover has been over 14,000 billion VND. Nearly 859,000 poor and near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries have borrowed capital, with an amount of over 14 trillion VND.
Among the 17 credit programs, there are currently a number of programs with high outstanding debt including: preferential loans for poor households, loans for near-poor households, loans to support job creation and job maintenance...

Thereby, helping nearly 126,000 households escape poverty, nearly 80,000 disadvantaged students access loans; more than 127,800 workers receive capital support to create jobs; more than 12,900 workers receive loans to work abroad... contributing to reducing the poverty rate to 1.51% (in 2014 the poverty rate was 5.54%).
Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies Nguyen Thi Hang assessed: Dong Thap province has focused on arranging, receiving and mobilizing large policy credit resources, meeting the demand for policy credit capital in the area.
“Dong Thap has built and created a very strong belief among people to borrow capital to escape poverty, and have the will to get rich to return to help people in difficult circumstances in the residential area. It can be said that Directive No. 40-CT/TW and Conclusion No. 06-KL/TW have come into life, promoted their effectiveness and efficiency, in line with the Party's will and the people's hearts, and have received the people's support and consensus,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang affirmed.

Concluding the Conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Phan Van Thang requested Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations at all levels to continue to enhance their roles and responsibilities to effectively implement Directive No. 40-CT/TW and Conclusion No. 06-KL/TW on social policy credit.
“Comrades must consider this an important solution for poverty reduction, job creation, and new rural development in the locality. Integrate policy credit activities with programs and policies for agricultural and rural development, education development, vocational training, and job creation to help borrowers use loans effectively, improve their lives, and repay bank debts,” emphasized comrade Phan Van Thang.
Comrade Phan Van Thang also proposed to improve the management capacity and inspection and supervision of social policy credit activities, entrusted activities of socio-political organizations and the situation of capital use by borrowers.
