On December 15, the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations coordinated with the People's Committee of Lak district to organize a scientific workshop on "Solutions to promote the development of traditional cultural tourism in Lak district".

Lak district is located in the southwest of the province, about 54 km from Buon Ma Thuot city along Highway 27. This place has a rich river and stream system located in primeval forests, creating a beautiful, mysterious landscape that attracts the curiosity and exploration of tourists; many historical and cultural relics associated with the two resistance wars against the US and France.

Lak district is also a land that preserves the beautiful traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities such as M'nong, Mong, Ede...; still preserves traditional occupations such as pottery making, weaving, brocade weaving... This is the foundation for the district to develop tourism, especially eco-tourism, adventure tourism, agricultural tourism, community tourism. In 2023, the number of visitors to the district reached 20,653, of which international visitors reached 1,403, domestic visitors reached 19,250. Compared to 2022, the number of visitors increased by 1.6%, revenue reached 17 billion VND, up 18%.

Besides the advantages and achievements, tourism development in Lak still has many issues that need to be addressed such as inadequate infrastructure and technical facilities; land policies are not really stable, sometimes there are disadvantages for investors building tourist areas and tourist attractions, affecting the attraction of investment from businesses; tourism management still has some limitations, coordination between levels and sectors in tourism development is sometimes not tight; the quality of human resources in tourism is still low...
At the workshop, delegates presented papers assessing the current status and potential for tourism development associated with traditional culture of ethnic minorities in Lak district, and the results achieved in recent years.
Delegates also presented papers, proposed solutions and orientations to promote tourism development in Lak district in the coming years such as: "Preserving and connecting with tourism types in Chu Yang Sin National Park, Lak district, Dak Lak province", "Exploiting and preserving cultural heritage of Lak district", "Protecting resources and environment, ensuring sustainable tourism development in Lak district" ...

The presentations and opinions shared by experts and delegates at the Workshop will be the basis for Lak district to supplement the district's general planning and develop an implementation plan; aiming to make tourism in general and tourism associated with traditional culture of the district in particular increasingly develop and be sustainable.
