HANOI - Apple CEO Tim Cook met with rapper Suboi and listened to her new song, "Dâu thiên hạ" (The Bride of the World), on the afternoon of April 15th.

The rapper had a 15-minute conversation with Tim Cook about domestic music and her personal career. She introduced him to her newly released song, " Dâu thiên hạ" (The Bride of the World). The song talks about the pressures faced by a Vietnamese girl who has to conform to societal norms. The rapper didn't prepare much because she wanted the conversation with Tim Cook to be natural.
After listening to the song with Tim Cook, Suboi said she was open to all feedback. Cook praised the song as "great" and "wonderful." Suboi joked, "I am very honored to have introduced my song to you using equipment you manufactured."
Suboi traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi on April 14th, at the invitation of Apple. She initially thought she would be attending a regular company meeting, so she was surprised to be informed that CEO Tim Cook would be present. In 2018, Suboi's song "N-Sao?" was among the top 100 best songs in the world , as selected by Apple Music.

The meeting took place in a studio in Hanoi. When Tim Cook walked in, rapper Viet Max – one of the veteran rappers of the Vietnamese hip hop scene – introduced the businessman to the artists, saying it was an honor to meet him.

Earlier, he also met with director Phuong Vu and several other directors and photographers at the Antiantiart studio, witnessing how they used iPhones, iPads, and Macbooks to create various art projects.
Earlier that morning, the Apple CEO had egg coffee with Vietnamese singers My Linh and My Anh at a restaurant in Hanoi's Old Quarter. During their 30-minute coffee and conversation in the Old Quarter, Tim Cook discussed various topics related to art, creative fields, and explored Hanoi's culture and history. Additionally, the Apple CEO expressed his desire to bring Apple Plus products to non-English speaking countries.

On April 15th, Tim Cook arrived in Hanoi to meet with Vietnamese content creators and programmers. Meanwhile, Apple also announced it would strengthen its commitment to Vietnam, increasing spending on suppliers, along with new progress in its initiative to support clean water for local schools. "There's nowhere like Vietnam, a vibrant and beautiful country," said the Apple CEO.
Tim Cook, 64, joined Apple in March 1998 as Senior Vice President of Global Operations and later as Executive Vice President. He was appointed CEO of Apple in August 2011.
Suboi, whose real name is Hang Lam Trang Anh, was born in 1990 in Ho Chi Minh City. With her distinctive, street-style music, Suboi is known as the "Queen of Hip Hop" in Vietnam.
In 2015, after performing in several shows in the US, Suboi was praised by The Wall Street Journal for her English rapping skills and captivating performance style: "Suboi introduces American audiences to a Vietnamese-infused rap style. Whether in Vietnamese, English, or a mix of both, her performances are powerful and captivating. Suboi is like the Queen Latifah or Lauryn Hill of Vietnam." That same year, she was featured in Vogue Japan's "Asia Rising" special.
In 2016, she rapped in front of former President Obama when he visited Vietnam. Forbes magazine selected her for its list of 30 Under 30 Asian Stars in 2017. She was a coach on Rap Viet season one and a judge on season three.
