American golfer, former world number one Tiger Woods, has decided to abandon “TW” - the personal logo that accompanied him for 23 years, until he stopped cooperating with Nike.
"I don't want to take it back when I'm in a new phase of my life and career," Woods shared about the old logo situation with the media on February 14.
Woods' signature brand came from his relationship with Nike and evolved from his initials. The "TW" logo was unveiled in 2000. A few months later, Woods achieved a golf grand slam—a quartet of majors—when he won the Masters for the second time in April 2000. The "TW" mission ended last month when he and Nike announced they were ending their partnership. It was a blockbuster 27-year deal worth an estimated $500 million to Woods.

Woods will begin his Genesis Invitational at Riviera in Los Angeles on February 15, kicking off a schedule of one tournament per month on the PGA Tour. He calls this a new chapter in his career, at the age of 48 and weakened, especially in his legs, after a traffic accident in February 2021.
Ahead of the Genesis Invitational, Woods debuted the Sun Day Red apparel, which he wore during a fitting at Riviera, a product Woods had developed with his club sponsor and partner TaylorMade the day before.
The Sun Day Red logo features a tiger swooping down to Woods’ name, with 15 stripes representing his 15 major wins. The name is inspired by the red color that has been associated with Woods during his final round, usually on Sunday, on the PGA Tour for the past 27 years. The American golf superstar once said that his mother, Kultida, who is of Thai descent, said red was his power color.

The Genesis Invitational was a special milestone in Woods' career. The 1992 tournament, called the Los Angeles Open, marked his PGA Tour debut as an amateur at the age of 16. Over the years, he has hosted the event as a fundraiser for his own charity.
