(Dan Tri) - Dr. Nguyen Duy Duy is on the list of 10 young scientists in the field of physics to receive awards from the Academy of Sciences in Australia.
Nguyen Duy Duy has experiencededucation in three continents when he graduated with honors from university in Russia, got a Master's degree in the US and received a PhD in Australia with the best doctoral thesis award. Currently, Duy works at the Water Security Program, Institute of Environmental Studies, Australian National Research Institute (CSIRO).

Recently, Mr. Duy became one of 10 outstanding young scientists to receive the award from the Australian Science and Industry Foundation, of the Australian Academy of Science (SIEF). SIEF is an award with a history of nearly 100 years, for scientists who have contributed to Australian industry, while promoting community interests and contributing to Australia's national goals. The above award not only provides economic support in the process of scientific research but also gives Mr. Duy, and other scientists on the list of honorees, the opportunity to interact and exchange with more than 45 Nobel Prize-winning scientists and nearly 600 other young scientists around the world this coming July in Lindau City, Germany.

7 pages of achievements and 5 most typical scientific articles To be considered for the award, Mr. Duy must prepare many documents to introduce himself and his scientific research projects from August 2023. The documents to be prepared include: List of awards achieved since university; teaching and training process; 5 most typical scientific articles; patents; social activities projects; essays and recommendation letters. Mr. Duy's list of awards, about 7 pages long, includes: Full scholarships during undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies; excellent graduation achievements from Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russia); President scholarship from Notre Dame University (USA); best doctoral thesis award from Sydney University (Australia); awards at scientific conferences;….

Regarding the 5 required articles, he chose articles published in leading journals in the industry, revolving around research on models in the projects Duy is pursuing. Most of them are related to water quality, flow, hydraulics, ... combined with artificial intelligence, machine learning and physics. 3 out of 5 typical scientific articles of Duy received many awards from the published magazines such as: Featured Articles ( PV ); Editor's Choice ( PV ); Best Paper Awards (PV ). Regarding the recommendation letter, Duy has two recommendation letters from the Director of Science of CSIRO and the Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sydney. After preparing the documents, Duy had to go through many rounds of assessment from the group, faculty, school and CSIRO institute, each round only selected 2 most suitable scientists. In addition, in addition to the CSIRO, Australia has 140-150 large and small schools and institutes. After receiving a large number of applications, Mr. Duy and the other 9 scientists were selected by the Australian Academy of Science to receive the award along with the opportunity to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings (Germany), a meeting between Nobel laureates and young scientists around the world to promote scientific exchange between generations of scientists.

Opportunity to interact with 45 Nobel Prize-winning scientists It is known that out of nearly 600 young scientists attending the upcoming meeting, Mr. Duy is one of 14 scientists selected to present at the exchange. Mr. Duy is in the process of preparing the content for a 15-minute presentation at the upcoming meeting in Germany and especially has the opportunity to have a private dinner with 3 Nobel Prize-winning scientists with a scale of only 10 people. Among the Nobel Prize-winning scientists, there are 3 scientists working in Mr. Duy's field. According to Mr. Duy, the Nobel Prize in Physics has always been awarded to the field of basic physics. Until 2021, scientists in thermo-hydrodynamics and climate and weather modeling were awarded the Nobel Prize. "I want to ask scientists about how this recognition will affect their future research as well as world science in the context of climate change, a field of physics that has not received much attention in the past," said Duy. In addition, he also wanted to provide a perspective from a person from Vietnam to know the views of scientists on doing science in developing countries, and at the same time bring the issue of climate change in Vietnam to the world science forum.

Sharing his future plans, the young scientist said that he is pursuing a model on water quality and water resources, two hot issues in both Australia and Vietnam. Specifically, he wants to focus on solving the problem of water security under the influence of climate change. In addition, Mr. Duy is also collaborating with a number of non- governmental organizations in Vietnam and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam to conduct a series of lectures on climate change for students and young people in general. In addition, he is also participating in teaching businesses and state agencies on climate change prevention to improve human resources for the Mekong Delta through gathering and discussing with experts from the US and Australia.
