According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, this year the number of 9th grade graduates is 129,210, of which 69,805 students are admitted to public high schools (55.7%) - an average competition ratio of 1 to 1.85. Last year, the competition ratio for public high schools was 1 to 1.67 and in 2021 it is 1 to 1.61. Thus, the competition ratio for grade 10 this year is expected to be the highest in the past 3 years.

Khuong Ha High School has the highest competition ratio in the city at 1/3.55, followed by Kim Lien High School with a ratio of 1/2.64, and Nguyen Van Cu High School with a ratio of 1/2.51. This year, Khuong Ha High School and Trung Van High School unexpectedly have high competition ratios, making it into the top 10.

The top 10 public high schools with the highest competition rates in Hanoi (not including the 3 schools that recruit students across the city - Chu Van An High School, Son Tay High School and Ethnic Boarding High School) are: Khuong Ha Primary, Secondary and High School, Kim Lien High School, Nguyen Van Cu High School, Le Quy Don - Ha Dong High School, Trung Van High School, Cau Giay High School, Yen Hoa High School, Phan Dinh Phung High School, Nhan Chinh High School, Dong Da High School.

Information about the 10th grade entrance exam in 2023

The 2023 Hanoi 10th grade entrance exam will be held over 2 days from June 10-11 with 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language.

Specifically, on the morning of June 10, students will take the Literature exam with a time limit of 120 minutes. The exam is graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 2. In the afternoon, students will take the Foreign Language exam, with a time limit of 60 minutes. The exam is graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 1.

For the Foreign Language exam, candidates choose one of the following languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean. Candidates can register to take a foreign language other than the language they are studying at secondary school.

On the morning of June 11, students took the Math exam, with 120 minutes to complete. The exam was graded on a 10-point scale, multiplied by a factor of 2.
