At the ceremony, Mr. Werner Gruber - Head of the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency in Vietnam handed over documents and products to Mr. Bui Huy Son - Director of the Department of Planning and Finance (Ministry of Industry and Trade).

These are export strategy reports focusing on priority sectors and areas, prepared by the International Trade Centre (ITC), within the framework of the Trade Policy and Export Promotion Project (SwissTrade Project) funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). These documents will be shared with ministries, trade organizations and relevant units.

Also at the handover ceremony, ITC presented strategic reports to contribute to the implementation of the Goods Import-Export Strategy for the period up to 2030 and related Action Plans.

Specifically, ITC has developed strategic reports for five selected priority sectors, including: electronics, environmental goods, wood and furniture, agriculture, and textiles. The separate strategic reports for each sector are built on the basis of export potential and contribution to employment and socio-economic development.

In addition, ITC also focuses on building separate strategies for five areas of trade competitiveness: digital transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship, quality, standards and certification, sustainability and inclusion, and trade facilitation.

These are important contributors to value chain development and exports, and the report's conclusions also fit into the bigger picture of the economy.

Another important output of the Project is the survey report of SMEs operating in priority sectors. The report was developed based on the ITC methodology and in consultation with stakeholders.

The above reports have been transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for reference and use in the process of developing the Goods Import and Export Strategy for the period up to 2030, the National, Ministry and local Action Plans.

The Project's activities will not only stop at developing strategic reports, but will continue to support the Ministry of Industry and Trade in organizing and implementing strategies and action plans through training courses to improve the capacity of staff in managing, organizing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating strategies and plans.

“We appreciate the support of the Swiss Government for Vietnam through the SwissTrade Project. The reports and products developed by ITC have reflected the general picture of Vietnam's export development over the past 10 years, its achievements, limitations, and causes; at the same time, they have suggested orientations and solutions for Vietnam's export development in the coming time, especially for priority industries and fields where Vietnam has potential and advantages to boost exports,” said Mr. Bui Huy Son.

Meanwhile, Mr. Werner Gruber affirmed: “Switzerland, through SECO, has always actively supported Vietnam on the path of integration and participation in the international trade system. Through the strategic partnership with ITC, we not only support Vietnam in building a comprehensive import-export strategy to effectively expand its access to global markets, but also help shape sectoral strategies, promoting growth and innovation in key industries in Vietnam. This cooperation demonstrates Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Vietnam’s sustainable and inclusive economic development.”
