Designer Thuy Nguyen introduced a new collection called "Flirty Clouds Drifting" on the second night of Vietnam International Fashion Week 2024 , which took place on the evening of June 14.
This collection marks the return after 5 years of designer Thuy Nguyen to Vietnam International Fashion Week.
Thuy Nguyen told Tuoi Tre Online that she continues to use silk and brocade as her main materials. Being loyal to these two materials is a challenge and also limits her in fashion creation.
“The idea was the pressure because I wanted to tell a story through the collection rather than looking at the designs visually.
I revived the Ao Ba Ba alongside the Ao Dai, Ao Yem and other designs in this summer collection. Viewers will feel the peace, freshness and breath of Vietnam through each design" - Thuy Nguyen shared.

Thuy Nguyen once tried her hand at the Ao Ba Ba in costume design for the movie Mother-in-law that she and her crew took on.
This time, Thuy Nguyen brought the Ao Ba Ba to the catwalk with a more modern creative idea through the shape, breaking the inherent structure of the familiar Ao Ba Ba in everyone's memory, but not completely destroying the image of the Ao Ba Ba.
She surprised the audience by combining ao yem, ao ba ba and ao dai in the same design. These types of shirts are arranged in many layers and colors without following any certain rules to avoid boredom.
In particular, these designs are combined with pleated wide-leg pants to create a floating effect like clouds, which is the theme of the collection. At first, viewers may think of a skirt, but that is the pants Thuy Nguyen created.
Thuy Nguyen chose the main colors of pink and white to suit everyone's preferences.
