TPO - After releasing floodwater through the spillway and power turbine with a flow rate of 1,000 m3/s, Tri An Hydropower Plant decided to increase the discharge rate to 1,120 - 1,170 m3/s due to the rapid increase in water flow into the lake.

On September 23, Tri An Hydropower Company continued to announce the increase of spillway discharge to regulate Tri An Hydropower Reservoir.

Accordingly, at 12 noon on September 23, after 2 hours of spillway discharge, the upstream water level of Tri An Lake was 60.78m, the downstream water level at the factory was 4.7m. The water flow into the lake reached 1,700m3/s.

Tri An Hydropower Plant started releasing flood water on the morning of September 23 with 1 spillway.

It is expected that in the next 1-2 days, the water flow into the lake will reach more than 1,400m3/s. The water flow through the spillway is 150m3/s, and through the power turbine is 815m3/s.

According to Tri An Hydropower Company, to ensure flood prevention capacity, combined with the downstream water level at Bien Hoa hydrological station having passed the peak of high tide and is falling, and at the same time not releasing water quickly and suddenly to avoid possible impacts on the downstream, Tri An Hydropower will increase the amount of water released to regulate the reservoir.

Many people came to the foot of Tri An hydroelectric dam to see the plant releasing floodwaters.

Accordingly, from 9am on September 24, Tri An Hydropower Plant will increase the water flow through the spillway to 320m3/s. Thus, with the water flow through the turbine generating electricity from 800 - 850m3/s, the total water flow discharged downstream is from 1,120 - 1,170m3/s.

Tri An Hydropower Company requested the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue at all levels and relevant local authorities to coordinate and notify people downstream of the reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to avoid damage.

In another development, in the face of complicated weather conditions, the Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, localities and units to continue implementing the central and provincial directives on natural disaster prevention and control and search and rescue to proactively prevent, respond promptly, and mitigate damage caused by floods, landslides, riverbank erosion, and flash floods in the area, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Accordingly, 24/7 on-call duty will continue at agencies, units and localities in low-lying areas. For areas where landslides have occurred, it is necessary to resolutely evacuate people and property from dangerous areas. Localities will inspect and review areas at risk of landslides and flash floods to have prevention and control plans, and at the same time, propagate and instruct people to recognize the risks of landslides and flash floods in order to respond promptly.
