On the morning of April 15, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee worked with the delegation of the Central Standing Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VEA) led by comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh, former member of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.
Comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee spoke at the meeting.
Comrades: Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tien Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; comrades of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors and organizations of the province received and worked with the delegation.
Over the years, the work of the elderly has always received the attention, leadership and direction of the Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province, contributing to consolidating and building a strong association; at the same time, improving the effectiveness of the representative boards of the elderly associations at all levels. Thai Binh province currently has over 326,000 elderly people participating in the association, over 21,900 elderly people receiving monthly social insurance benefits, over 390,400 elderly people with health insurance cards. 214/260 communes, wards and towns have a fund "Caring for and promoting the role of the elderly" with a balance of nearly 27 billion VND; maintaining the regular activities of 1,700 clubs attracting a large number of elderly people to participate, contributing to improving the health and spiritual life of members.
Discussing at the meeting, delegates focused on analyzing and clarifying the results achieved, difficulties and limitations in the implementation of the work of the Association of the Elderly in the province; proposing solutions to better care for the elderly and promote the role of the elderly in future activities.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh, former member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, spoke at the meeting.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly congratulated Thai Binh province on its important achievements in socio-economic development; and at the same time acknowledged and highly appreciated the attention and facilitation of local Party committees and authorities for the work of the association of the elderly in the province.
He hoped that in the coming time, Thai Binh would continue to pay attention to and direct the transformation and consolidation of the organization of the Elderly Association to be streamlined and operate effectively; have appropriate policies to increase the rate of the elderly participating in the organization; continue to care for the lives and promote the role of the elderly in socio-economic development; mobilize social resources to build centers for the care of the elderly. The Elderly Associations at all levels in the province will continue to do a good job of mobilizing and gathering members to participate in the organization; proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, departments and branches to promote the implementation of the movement "Old age, bright example", replicate good models and creative ways of doing things; encourage the elderly to actively participate in building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and building a clean and strong Party and government.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, thanked the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly for their attention and support for the activities of the Association of the Elderly at all levels in the province. In the coming time, Thai Binh will continue to thoroughly grasp and fully implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on the work of the elderly; have solutions to overcome difficulties, continue to improve the quality of care for the elderly; pay attention to supporting and creating conditions for the elderly to promote their role and make positive contributions to the development of their homeland.
Individuals were awarded the medal "For the cause of caring for and promoting the role of the elderly in Vietnam".
Provincial leaders and the Vietnam Association of the Elderly presented gifts to elderly members in difficult circumstances.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association awarded the medal "For the cause of protecting, caring for and promoting the role of the Vietnamese elderly" to individuals; and presented 100 gifts to elderly members in difficult circumstances in the province.
