Very low or almost no Tet bonus is a common story among teachers, contract employees, newly graduated teachers and special education teachers. The average bonus of these teachers is only a few hundred thousand dong, some do not even have a Tet bonus. That is something to think about.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, some teachers express their anticipation for bonuses, but others feel sad and heartbroken because after many years of work, a Tet bonus is a very distant concept. Some teachers are awarded several million VND. However, in reality, many teachers still do not know the "smell" of a Tet bonus. In some places, the Tet bonus for teachers is only a bag of candy, a bag of MSG, or a few hundred thousand VND. In the opinion of many people, the year-end Tet bonus is not a demand of teachers, but it is to give teachers more spiritual motivation.

Hoping for a prosperous Tet holiday is something that almost all workers want. Teachers are the same, everyone wants to have some money to "make ends meet". It is considered a source of encouragement and motivation for teachers in educational institutions. It can be said that Tet bonus is very important, so that teachers do not feel disadvantaged because most other professions have it. With additional Tet bonus, teachers will help with some of the other living expenses in the family, to have a "warmer" Tet.

For many years, increasing teachers' salaries has always been a hot topic in the National Assembly, receiving public attention. According to National Assembly member Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, teachers' low income makes it difficult to attract and retain talent, and difficult to motivate teachers to devote themselves wholeheartedly to their work... Even the meager income from teachers' salaries also affects the role and position of teachers in society.

All of these things have a negative impact on the quality of education and training. Therefore, increasing teachers' salaries is of great significance; not only does it improve teachers' income but it also plays a decisive role in attracting high-quality human resources to the education sector. Therefore, teachers' lives are better cared for.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in the 3 school years from August 2020 to August 2023, more than 40,000 teachers nationwide have quit their jobs. In addition, the number of teachers retiring is about 10,000 people per year on average. Meanwhile, from 2020 to present, the number of assigned staffing quotas is nearly 26,000. Comparing the number of teachers quitting their jobs and the number of teachers recruited, there is a big difference. Therefore, the Ministry has proposed many solutions to limit this "wave", including increasing salaries and paying more attention to teachers' lives.

At the National Assembly Forum, many delegates also suggested that, in salary reform, it is necessary to regulate teachers' salaries at the highest level in the administrative career salary scale system. Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has repeatedly proposed an urgent increase in teachers' salaries to improve their lives and reduce the number of layoffs. Recently, the Politburo requested to continue innovating salary policies, recruitment, use, treatment, attraction, and ensuring the necessary conditions for teachers to perform their tasks well.

Returning to the story of Tet bonuses, it can be said that this is not a mandatory provision in the Labor Code. Tet bonuses for employees are currently applied according to the regulations on bonuses in the Labor Code 2019. Thus, paying Tet bonuses is only an incentive provision of the employer. But it must also be added that Tet bonuses are also a way to retain and increase employee motivation.

Therefore, units with high Tet bonuses often have employees who stay longer, and there are fewer cases of mass resignations. For employees, Tet bonuses have not only material value but also spiritual meaning. It is a source of motivation for employees to work harder and be more attached to the business. Looking back, for teachers, how can we no longer feel sad about Tet bonuses for teachers? Everyone who goes to work hopes to have a high salary and bonus to take care of their family and have a prosperous and comfortable life.

For workers, Tet bonus is an extremely important amount and is always expected at the end of the year. Everyone hopes to have money to buy new clothes for their children, Tet gifts for their grandparents, to buy food, bus tickets... For many people, not having Tet bonus means not having Tet, especially low-income workers.

Everyone feels sorry for the "noble profession", the pressure is always there but the treatment is not worthy. The life of teachers in general is still full of difficulties and struggles. "Only with food can one practice morality", a life of deprivation and hardship will put teachers under a lot of pressure, unable to wholeheartedly devote themselves to the task of "cultivating people".

Teaching is a noble profession, which needs to be treated fairly by the State, and teachers' lives also need to be given more attention. With low incomes and constant worries about making a living, do teachers still have the mind and enthusiasm to devote themselves to their profession and make a living? Therefore, increasing salaries as well as having a 13th month salary is the wish and expectation of all teachers in the profession. Because the Tet bonus will be a great encouragement and source of motivation for each teacher.
