Thua Thien Hue welcomes cruise ship carrying more than 3,000 passengers to Chan May port

NDO - The Royal Caribbean cruise ship Celeberity Millennium (Malta nationality) carrying more than 3,000 tourists and crew members has just docked at Chan May port, Phu Loc district (Thua Thien Hue province). This is the 30th international cruise ship to dock at Chan May port since the beginning of the year.

On October 25, at Chan May port (Phu Loc district), the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province in coordination with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company organized the opening ceremony and officially put into operation the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May port area.

Accordingly, this Center will serve tourists through information forms such as leaflets, tourism publications, maps, images, videos... introducing outstanding destinations of Thua Thien Hue province.

In addition, the Center also provides visitors with necessary information to have interesting local experiences, from exploring cultural heritage, community tourism, ecology, spirituality, to visiting traditional craft villages, shopping and health care.

The Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May Port officially came into operation.

Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuc said that putting the Center into operation is not only a place to provide information and support tourists to explore destinations and tourism products of Hue, but also contributes to promoting the image of Thua Thien Hue, demonstrating the determination to build Thua Thien Hue province into a centrally-run city and become a typical Festival city, one of the unique cultural and tourism centers of the Southeast Asian region in the period of 2025-2030.

On the same day, the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province and related units organized to welcome a group of guests from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Celebrity Millennium (Malta nationality) carrying 2,150 tourists and 958 crew members to Chan May port (Phu Loc district). These were also the first cruise tourists to visit and seek information at the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May Port.

After disembarking, half of the tourists and crew of the Celeberity Millennium visited the Hue Monuments Complex and scenic spots in Hue, while the rest participated in a heritage tour in Da Nang city and the ancient town of Hoi An (Quang Nam province).

According to Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, in the first 10 months of 2024, Chan May Port welcomed 30 cruise ships with nearly 60,000 passengers and crew members. By the end of 2024, Chan May Port is expected to welcome 41 cruise ships with more than 90,000 passengers and crew members. In 2025, there were 42 ships carrying about 74,000 passengers and crew members registered to call at Chan May Port and this is expected to increase in the coming time.

The leader of Chan May Port Joint Stock Company said that putting the Tourist Information and Support Center into operation at Chan May Port is necessary, demonstrating the improvement of the quality of cruise ship services in particular and the quality of tourism activities in the area in general to serve the information needs of tourists by sea when visiting Hue, creating favorable conditions for tourists to access destinations, products, tourism services and tours to promote the propaganda and promotion of the value of typical tourism resources.

According to the Thua Thien Hue Department of Tourism, in the first 10 months of 2024, the number of visitors to the locality is estimated at more than 3.2 million, an increase of 26.75% over the same period last year. Of which, international visitors are estimated at more than 1 million, an increase of nearly 31.45%, revenue from tourism is estimated at nearly 4,300 billion VND. It is estimated that in 2024, the tourism industry will achieve the planned targets: welcoming about 3.5-4 million tourists, total revenue from tourists reaching 7,500-8,000 billion VND.
