Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam will promote training of high-quality human resources to participate in the semiconductor industry, with the goal of training 50,000 personnel from now until 2030.

On the afternoon of October 12, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Ji Rong Rip, Vice President and Global General Director of Amkor Technology Group, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam wishes to develop the semiconductor industry in the spirit of "taking a shortcut" to "getting ahead"; is researching and building a development strategy, a human resource development project along with appropriate institutions, policies and mechanisms to attract the world's leading semiconductor manufacturing and design enterprises to Vietnam, promoting cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises to create conditions to improve the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises and gradually participate in the semiconductor industry value chain.

The head of the Government said that Vietnam will promote the training of high-quality human resources to participate in the semiconductor industry, with the goal of training 50,000 personnel from now until 2030. Vietnam also advocates building a national semiconductor industry ecosystem with the participation of the following parties: the State, enterprises, support organizations, universities, research institutes, and financial institutions.

The Prime Minister proposed that on the basis of harmonious benefits and shared risks, Amkor continue to coordinate and support Vietnam in developing the semiconductor industry, especially in providing advice on building mechanisms and policies, transferring technology, training human resources, improving management capacity, participating in infrastructure investment, building training facilities, incubating, researching and developing, designing and testing semiconductor products, and promoting cooperation with the National Innovation Center (NIC) of Vietnam.

Along with that, the Prime Minister suggested that the Group expand investment earlier than the committed roadmap; increase the localization rate; create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to explore cooperation opportunities and participate in the Group's global production chain; do a good job of social security, and pay attention to improving the material and spiritual life of workers.

The Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province to closely coordinate with the Central Ministries and branches to promptly handle and resolve the Group's reflections and recommendations, creating the best investment environment for the Group to produce and do business in Vietnam.

Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to meet him, Vice President and General Director of Amkor Ji Rong Rip highly appreciated the goodwill, support and assistance of the Government, ministries and localities for Amkor's operations in Vietnam; affirming that the Group will continue to make efforts to contribute to the development of Vietnam, forming the Group's semiconductor ecosystem in Vietnam, especially in the contents that the Prime Minister commented on.

In particular, Mr. Ji Rong Rip said, Amkor wants to increase the use of highly qualified engineers and personnel in Vietnam, combined with mobilizing highly qualified engineers and experts from other facilities around the world of the Group.

He personally has and will continue to call for and attract other investors to invest in Vietnam, creating momentum on a global scale to promote the Group's operations in Vietnam, bringing Vietnam into the Group's global network and attracting global resources to Vietnam.

Amkor Group was founded in 1968, parallel to the United States and Korea, headquartered in the United States, Amkor Technology is the first enterprise to create semiconductor products in Korea, is a pioneer in the semiconductor field in Korea, is the company that brought the first semiconductor seeds to Korea and brought success in the semiconductor field to Korea. Amkor has just inaugurated the Group's factory in Bac Ninh.
