Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of economic groups in the fields of energy, infrastructure and technology in the UAE on December 2.

On the occasion of attending the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), on the morning of December 2 local time, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of economic groups in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and technology.

*At the meeting, the General Director of Equinor Group said that Equinor is a large Norwegian energy group (67% owned by the Norwegian state), present in over 30 countries participating in the development of oil and gas, wind and solar energy projects.

Equinor is working with Vietnamese partners in the energy transition, together with Vietnam to implement its commitments on climate change and commitments at COP 26. Equinor Group wishes to develop offshore wind power in Vietnam; it recommends that Vietnam improve its institutions on related issues, creating more favorable conditions for businesses to invest sustainably and effectively.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the group's idea of ​​cooperation with Vietnamese partners to develop renewable energy and officially opened a representative office in Hanoi; requested the group to closely coordinate with Vietnamese partners to conduct research and surveys on renewable energy development in Vietnam, focusing on two main contents: renewable energy sources and renewable energy transmission.

In the immediate future, Equinor Group will closely coordinate with its Vietnamese partners to take drastic actions to soon have specific projects that will bring practical results for both sides. In particular, promoting the effective implementation of ongoing projects; at the same time, having specific projects to develop renewable energy in Vietnam, not only to meet domestic consumption but also to export to countries in the region such as Singapore...

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam protects the legitimate and legal rights and interests and creates favorable conditions for businesses, including Equinor Group, to cooperate long-term and effectively in Vietnam, in the spirit of "harmonious benefits and shared risks".

*Also on the morning of December 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade - Member of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Ports Group; Mr. Syed Basar Shueb, CEO, Mr. Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi and associates of Abu Dhabi Ports Group (IHC).

Reporting to the Prime Minister, the group's leaders said that IHC is a public company headquartered in Abu Dhabi with a listed capitalization of more than 250 billion USD. Abu Dhabi Ports Group is a subsidiary of IHC operating in the fields of logistics, industrial park development and free trade zones with revenue of 1.5 billion USD in 2022.

IHC has invested in Vietnam through TTEK Company, operating in the field of providing technology solutions for the customs industry and digital payment solutions. The Group wishes to continue expanding its investment and business in Vietnam in the fields of seaports, logistics, digital transformation, smart cities, duty-free zones, etc.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and highly appreciated the group's effective business activities in recent times; said that Vietnam is implementing 3 strategic breakthroughs to promote socio-economic development, including infrastructure breakthroughs. Therefore, he suggested that IHC Group, with its strengths, continue to invest in Vietnam, especially in the fields of seaports, logistics infrastructure... with specific projects, in the spirit of quick and timely action.

Welcoming the group for supporting Vietnam in implementing a number of major programs and projects related to digital transformation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam is promoting the building of a digital government, digital society, and digital economy. Therefore, he hopes that the group will invest in Vietnam in the fields of science and technology, research and development, innovation, digital transformation, etc. In particular, IHC will coordinate, support, and cooperate with Vietnam in developing digital infrastructure, digital technology, and training digital human resources.

Vietnam commits to creating all favorable conditions for foreign investors in general and UAE investors in particular to invest effectively and long-term in Vietnam.
