On the afternoon of May 16, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Cuban Minister of Interior Alberto Álvarez Casas and a high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Ministry of Interior who are visiting and working in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that the visit is of great significance at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of the first visit of Leader Fidel Castro to Vietnam and to the liberated zone of South Vietnam; it is a testament to the determination to consolidate and comprehensively and substantially develop the special, traditional, friendly and multi-faceted relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Prime Minister congratulated Cuba on successfully organizing the General Election to elect the State Leadership, Government and the 10th National Assembly for the 2023-2028 term.

Through Minister Alberto Álvarez Casas, the Prime Minister sent greetings, regards and congratulations to Comrade Miguel Diaz Canel on the occasion of being re-elected as President of Cuba, Comrade Manuel Marrero Cruz on the occasion of being re-elected as Prime Minister of Cuba; and sent regards to Leader Raul Castro and other leaders of the Cuban Party, State and Government.

Reiterating the words of Leader Fidel Castro "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood", the Prime Minister thanked the Party, State and people of Cuba for supporting Vietnam throughout the struggle for independence, freedom and national reunification; affirming that although Vietnam and Cuba are geographically far apart, the people of the two countries always turn to each other with solidarity, sincerity, attachment and loyalty.

The Prime Minister expressed his delight at the development between the two countries; affirmed that the recent official visit to Cuba by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue continued to foster and deepen the close, trusting, and exemplary brotherly solidarity and solidarity between the two countries, making them more practical and effective; together building an independent and self-reliant economy, associated with proactive and active integration, practically and effectively of each country.

Vietnam shares the difficulties that Cuba is going through and will do its utmost to support Cuba within its capacity, is willing to share Vietnam’s experience; continue to support Cuba in improving production capacity and ensuring food security, aquaculture, etc.

To strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to maintain dialogue, exchange of high-level delegations and between ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises, and requested Cuba to pay attention to and create favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies for Vietnamese legal entities and individuals in Cuba to stabilize their lives, production and business to bring benefits to both countries; support Vietnam in developing biotechnology, healthcare, and training human resources, especially foreign languages.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, cooperation and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, especially the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement; and improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation through mechanisms such as the Theoretical Workshop between the two Parties, the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and the Defense and Security Policy Dialogue.

Cuban Minister of Interior Alberto Álvarez Casas sincerely thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to receive the delegation and for always contributing to and nurturing the special friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba; and conveyed the greetings of Leader Raul Castro, President Miguel Diaz Canel, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Reporting to the Prime Minister on the very successful talks between the Cuban Ministry of Interior and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, Minister Alberto Álvarez Casas said that the two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate and promote the implementation of agreements, especially in specialized fields, contributing effectively to the interests of the two countries.

Regarding security, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the increasingly practical and effective cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of Interior in all fields, in the common spirit of the two Parties, especially the fact that the two agencies have supported each other in specialized cooperation, Covid-19 prevention and control, healthcare, and information, experience and professional exchange.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cuban Ministry of Interior will continue to promote closer relations to serve the cause of national construction and protection of each country.

In particular, it is necessary to identify key issues, create breakthroughs in cooperation areas; regularly exchange information, share experiences in protecting internal political security, and fight against plots and anti-revolutionary activities of hostile and reactionary forces in both countries, especially in cyberspace.

Cuban Minister of Interior Alberto Álvarez Casas thanked Vietnam and the Prime Minister for their sharing, and for Vietnam's valuable experience and support for Cuba. Agreeing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's major orientations, Minister Alberto Álvarez Casas affirmed that the Cuban Ministry of Interior will continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to effectively implement the contents mentioned by the Prime Minister.
