The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message to Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

In his congratulatory message, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that over the past 50 years, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan has developed strongly and comprehensively with many great achievements.

The two countries have become extremely important partners, sharing many common strategic interests; always accompanying and providing each other with extremely effective support in the process of national construction and development.

Building on the good achievements over the past 50 years, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that both sides will continue to foster the relationship between the two countries in the spirit of sincerity, affection, trust, practicality and effectiveness.

Accordingly, the Vietnam - Japan relationship will develop to a new height with a new framework, meeting the aspirations and bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, actively contributing to peace, stability, prosperity, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Currently, Japan is the largest provider of official development assistance (ODA), the second largest in labor cooperation, the third largest in investment and tourism, and the fourth largest in trade with Vietnam.

Cooperation in other areas such as defense, security, health, agriculture, science and technology, digital transformation, education and training, climate change response, etc. has been actively implemented.
