Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh leaves for the High-level General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly

On the afternoon of September 17, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation leaving Hanoi to attend the High-level General Debate of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), combined with bilateral activities in the United States from September 17 to 23, 2023.

The official delegation with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the conference included: Minister of Public Security, General To Lam; Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh; Deputy Head of the Government Office Nguyen Xuan Thanh; Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung; Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang; Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco Hoang Anh Tuan.

The high-level General Debate of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly will be held under the theme “Rebuilding Trust and Promoting Global Solidarity: Scaling Up Action on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress and Sustainability for All”.

As an active and responsible member of the international community, holding important positions in many major multilateral mechanisms, making effective and substantial contributions in all aspects at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, participating in the High-level General Debate of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, Vietnam continues to implement its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization, continuing to deepen relations.

During this working trip, the Prime Minister will conduct bilateral activities in the United States, aiming to deepen the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, concretize the results of US President Joe Biden's recent visit to Vietnam, and implement agreements and commitments between the two countries' senior leaders in the spirit of the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam-US relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
