On February 1, at the Government headquarters, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Government held a regular meeting in January 2024 to assess the socio-economic situation in January 2024; the allocation and disbursement of public investment capital; and the implementation of 3 National Target Programs.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Ministers; Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies; representatives of leaders of departments and agencies of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly and leaders of a number of economic groups.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the world situation in the past and present is generally peaceful, but there are still wars; generally peaceful, but there are still tensions; generally stable, but there are still conflicts. In terms of the economy, inflation has cooled down but remains high; monetary policies of countries are still tight but are forecast to be loosened in the coming time; global trade remains weak; natural disasters, storms, floods, and climate change continue to be complicated.
Domestically, on the path of recovery and development in 2023, January saw many important economic, political, social and foreign affairs events such as extraordinary sessions of the Central Committee and the National Assembly.
The National Assembly reviewed and voted to pass 2 Laws and 2 Resolutions. The Government, ministries, departments, branches and localities summarized the work in 2023 and set out directions and tasks for 2024... The whole country is urgently and actively preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin.
The Prime Minister pointed out that after the Government Conference with localities, the Government issued Resolution 1 to deploy tasks for 2024 with 6 viewpoints, key directions and operations, 12 groups of tasks, main solutions, 168 specific tasks with the motto "Discipline, responsibility; proactive and timely; accelerated innovation; sustainable efficiency".
Under the leadership of the Party, the support of the National Assembly, and the participation of the entire political system, people, and businesses, the socio-economic situation in January continued to achieve positive and remarkable results: the macro-economy was basically stable; inflation was controlled; major balances of the economy were ensured; the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors all showed many positive signals right from the first month of the year; investment and development continued to achieve positive results.
National planning and digital transformation work continues to be promoted, cultural and social fields are focused on, people's lives continue to improve, 3 strategic breakthroughs continue to be promoted, active preparations for people to enjoy Spring and celebrate Tet, the political and social situation is stable, national defense and security are maintained, foreign affairs continue to be promoted.

The Prime Minister said that on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024), General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has just written an article "Proud and confident under the glorious flag of the Party, determined to build an increasingly rich, civilized, cultured and heroic Vietnam".
The article affirms that under the glorious flag of the Party, “Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as today”. Thereby, further consolidating national pride, historical tradition, patriotism, gaining more courage and confidence for us to move forward; towards 2030, our Party will be 100 years old, our country will be a developing country, with modern industry and high average income.
Regarding the tasks for February and the coming time, the Prime Minister requested members of the Government to discuss and assess the situation, lessons learned, especially in direction, management and policy response. On that basis, propose solutions to renew old driving forces including investment, export, consumption; supplement and effectively exploit new growth drivers such as: digital economy, green economy, circular economy, innovation; create jobs and livelihoods for people; find solutions to overcome production chain disruptions and participate more deeply in the global supply chain.
Along with that, the Prime Minister requested promoting the development of cultural and social fields; ensuring security and national defense; strengthening foreign relations; focusing on maximizing the exploitation of resources that corporations and general companies are holding.
In particular, in the immediate future, we will organize for people to celebrate Tet joyfully, healthily, economically, and meaningfully, ensuring that everyone and every family has Tet, and no one is left behind.
