Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the official welcoming ceremony for Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

After the official welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers held talks at the Government Headquarters and witnessed the exchange of a number of cooperation documents between ministries, branches and agencies of the two countries.

This is the third time that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has officially visited Vietnam, following visits in 2014 and 2019. Since the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Netherlands (December 2022), relevant ministries and branches of the two countries have made efforts to effectively implement the commitments and cooperation agreements of the visit, demonstrated through the active exchange of delegations in 2023, many new cooperation documents were signed, and bilateral cooperation mechanisms continued to be maintained.

This is the third time that Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has officially visited Vietnam, after visits in 2014 and 2019.

At the talks, the two sides will discuss measures to create a breakthrough in bilateral relations; further deepen the Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Partnership in the fields of climate change response and sustainable agriculture; closely coordinate to address regional and global challenges, towards the goal of sustainable development; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Also during the visit, the two leaders are expected to have many joint activities, such as attending the High-Tech Business Forum, Green Economy Forum, etc.

Over the past decade, Vietnam-Netherlands relations have made great strides. The two countries have become Strategic Partners on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (2014), upgraded to Comprehensive Partnership (2019). Along with that, the Netherlands has become the largest investor, the second largest trading partner and export market of Vietnam in Europe. The Netherlands accounts for 48.7% of EU investment capital in Vietnam.

The Netherlands has also implemented many practical programs to support Vietnam in socio-economic development, poverty reduction, improving the quality of education and training, healthcare, combating climate change, and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dutch Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam this time affirms a strong message about the determination of the two countries to create new momentum for the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership in the coming period.
