On the morning of September 5, on the occasion of attending the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related conferences in Jakarta, Indonesia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working breakfast with Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Sonexay Siphandone and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Laos on successfully organizing the 6th Conference of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, 11th tenure, towards successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025); at the same time, he congratulated Cambodia on establishing a new National Assembly and Government after the election of the 7th National Assembly and Mr. Hun Manet was elected as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the 7th term (2023-2028).

In a friendly, cordial, open and substantive atmosphere, the three Prime Ministers informed each other about the socio-economic development situation in each country; discussed common areas of cooperation and international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Pleased to see that the three countries are making efforts to overcome challenges caused by complicated developments in the world and regional situation and maintain security and political stability, the three Prime Ministers agreed that the historical reality of the struggle for independence, as well as the protection and development of the country and international integration has affirmed that the continuous consolidation and tightening of cooperative relations between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia is an objective necessity and at the same time has important strategic significance for all three countries.

In that spirit, the three Prime Ministers agreed to continue to maintain regular bilateral and trilateral exchanges and contacts, and maintain the mechanism of working breakfasts between the three Prime Ministers on the occasion of attending international conferences to continuously strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation, discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern, and seek solutions to problems arising in the relationship between the three countries.

Along with that, it is necessary to enhance the effectiveness of existing tripartite cooperation mechanisms, including coordinating to soon organize the 13th CLV Development Triangle Summit and the first meeting of the Chairmen of the National Assembly of the three countries in Laos in 2023; promoting exchanges and training of youth and young leaders to foster the future of cooperation between the three countries.

The three Prime Ministers assessed that security and defense cooperation has made much progress; agreed to continue effectively implementing existing agreements and cooperation mechanisms, enhancing information sharing and improving the effectiveness of cooperation in combating cyber and cross-border crimes, etc.

The leaders of the three governments agreed to continue to have policies and measures to facilitate and further encourage trade and investment cooperation; focusing on border trade and promoting the land border gate system between the three countries; further promoting connectivity between the three economies, including hard and soft infrastructure connections, production and supply chains, and coordinating to exploit the competitive advantages of the three countries in terms of heritage, culture and cuisine potential to further promote tourism cooperation; in the immediate future, promoting "one journey, three destinations" tourism packages.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that cooperation with Laos and Cambodia is always a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy. The Prime Minister asked the three countries to continue promoting and resolving outstanding issues to soon complete the land border demarcation work in order to build and maintain a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, for the benefit of the people of each country.

The Prime Minister thanked and hoped that the Lao and Cambodian governments would continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Laos and Cambodia to live stably and integrate into the host society.
