Dutch Prime Minister visits Vietnam with more than 20 technology companies

(Dan Tri) - During his visit to Vietnam, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Mark Rutte will join Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in attending the High-Tech Business Forum and the Green Economy Forum.
Late on the evening of November 1, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and a high-ranking delegation arrived at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), beginning a visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The visit took place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. This is the third time Prime Minister Mark Rutte has visited Vietnam, the previous two times were in 2014 and 2019. According to the Dutch Embassy in Vietnam, Prime Minister Rutte was accompanied by a business delegation of 23 companies and organizations in the fields of high technology and digitalization.

Regarding the expected schedule, on November 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will host the official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the two sides will hold talks and witness the signing of a number of cooperation documents between the two countries. In the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Mark Rutte will attend the High-Tech Business Forum and the Green Economy Forum; at the same time, the Dutch Prime Minister will visit the Diplomatic Academy and is expected to deliver a speech at a conference. On the evening of November 2, after attending an official reception, Prime Minister Mark Rutte will return home, concluding his visit to Vietnam.

Vietnam and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations on April 9, 1973. The two countries have established a Strategic Partnership on Climate Change Response and Water Management (2010), a Strategic Partnership on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (2014) and a Comprehensive Partnership (2019). Vietnam-Netherlands relations have developed positively in many areas, notably in investment, trade, agriculture and climate change response. The two sides maintain regular exchanges of delegations at all levels, have many bilateral cooperation mechanisms; closely coordinate and support each other at international forums and organizations. Currently, the Netherlands is Vietnam's second largest trading partner in Europe and the EU's largest investor in Vietnam. Investment projects are mainly implemented in the southern provinces: Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong... In recent times, the Netherlands' non-refundable development aid to Vietnam has been mainly implemented through many programs in the fields of infrastructure investment, institutional capacity building for post-secondary education and training... Within the framework of the Strategic Partnership on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management, the two sides established an Intergovernmental Committee to coordinate activities. Many projects in the fields and framework of the Committee have been effectively implemented, especially the Mekong Delta Plan with a long-term vision that has made many recommendations, focusing on solving issues of water resource management and climate change adaptation to turn the Mekong Delta into a sustainable economic development region. According to the Netherlands Statistics Office, the Vietnamese community in this kingdom in 2020 was about 20,000 people. The number of Vietnamese students and postgraduates studying and researching in the Netherlands is about 400 students/year, most of whom are self-funded.
