Welcoming the Prime Minister and his wife at the airport, the Turkish side included Deputy Foreign Minister Burak Akçapar, Deputy Governor of Ankara Sait Atalay, Deputy Mayor of Ankara, Commander of the Army and Director of the Protocol Department of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Cemil Miroğlu.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Türkiye Do Son Hai and his wife, along with a number of officials and staff of the Embassy.

The visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the Republic of Turkey this time plays a very important role. This is the first official visit of a Prime Minister of our Government to Türkiye in the context of the two countries having activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. The visit not only affirms the desire of our Party and State to promote the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Türkiye, but also creates a fundamental foundation, with orientation for the next steps of development.

Over the past 45 years, it can be said that the relationship between the two countries has had many outstanding achievements and developed in many fields.

In terms of foreign affairs, the two countries maintain close relations, maintain visits and work at all levels with increasing frequency. After the two countries upgraded their relations and opened embassies in each other's capitals, ministerial-level visits and joint economic committee meetings related to bilateral cooperation areas were held. Exchanges and cooperation in the fields of security and defense have achieved many advances.

The people of the two countries are increasingly concerned about each other, ready to share and support each other in difficult times. Vietnam and Türkiye have supported each other to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, or the two Vietnamese rescue teams coming to help overcome the earthquake disaster in February 2023 are the clearest evidence of the spirit of "mutual love" between the two countries.

Economically, 2017 marked a historic milestone in trade exchange, when two-way trade turnover reached 3.2 billion USD, making Vietnam Turkey's second largest partner among the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, after Malaysia. The Covid pandemic has significantly impacted bilateral trade, reaching only 1.6 billion USD in 2021, and in 2022, trade turnover showed signs of recovery, reaching more than 2 billion USD.

More importantly, Vietnam and Türkiye see each other as important, trustworthy, and potential economic partners, and as gateways to access the surrounding regional markets. In 2019 and 2022, Türkiye announced the “New Asia Initiative” and the “Strategy for Enhancing Trade with Distant Countries” respectively, both of which mentioned ASEAN and Vietnam as potential partners. For Vietnam, the project to develop relations between Vietnam and the Middle East and Africa region always places Türkiye in a position of great economic influence in the region.

In an interview with The Gioi & Viet Nam Newspaper, Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Do Son Hai said he believes that the Vietnam-Turkey relationship will have qualitative changes in the coming time. Assessing the potential for cooperation, he affirmed that "Many new cooperation contents are being expanded, regularly exchanged by the two sides at many levels, including cooperation in national security and defense.

With much room for development, economic and trade cooperation is expected to make great strides. If well utilized, Türkiye will be a bridge for Vietnamese enterprises to access the EU and Middle East markets, while Vietnam will be a gateway for Turkish enterprises to reach the rapidly developing ASEAN region. Investment is also a factor that I have high expectations for. With Turkey's strengths in infrastructure construction, tourism and technology, I hope that the two countries can increase exchanges and have highly effective joint projects.

Cooperation in culture and tourism has a lot of potential. Both countries have glorious cultural histories, important historical sites and monuments, and majestic nature. Through tourism activities, people of both countries can understand more about each other's country, culture, and people, as well as enhance tourism cooperation and mutual experiences."

It is expected that during his two days in Türkiye, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will have nearly 20 consecutive activities, in addition to meeting with Turkish leaders, he will also meet and attend a business forum to promote investment cooperation.

On the morning of November 29 local time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will receive Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat, then lay a wreath and visit the Mausoleum of President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

The official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will take place at 10am the same day at the Turkish Presidential Palace. After the talks between the two delegations, the leaders of the two sides will witness the signing of cooperation documents.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to have a meeting with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan; meet with Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus; and receive leaders of Hayat Holding Group.

The head of the Vietnamese government is expected to meet with the Vietnamese community in Türkiye on the same evening, local time. The Vietnamese community in Türkiye currently has about 200 people, scattered in different provinces and cities.

On November 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to meet and work with many leaders of large Turkish corporations. According to the program, he will meet with Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek and Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir.

After attending the Vietnam - Türkiye Business Forum, the head of the Vietnamese Government will receive leaders of IC Holding Group and visit the Turkish Aerospace Corporation; and visit the Anatolian Museum.

Concluding his schedule here on the afternoon of November 30 local time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will leave Ankara for Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the World Climate Action Summit within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
