Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will pay an official visit to Vietnam next week at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The Cambodian Prime Minister's visit will take place on December 11-12, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is the first time Prime Minister Hun Manet has visited Vietnam since he took office in August.

Hun Manet, 46, was the first Cambodian to graduate from the prestigious West Point Military Academy in the United States. In addition to his military education, he also studied economics and received a master's degree from New York University in 2002 and a doctorate from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom in 2008. He became a general in 2018 and served as Army Commander and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
Vietnam and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on June 24, 1967. Investment and trade cooperation is a bright spot. Bilateral trade turnover reached over 10.57 billion USD in 2022, an increase of nearly 11% compared to 2021. Two-way turnover in the first 9 months of 2023 reached 6.5 billion USD. Vietnam is currently Cambodia's third largest trading partner and Cambodia's largest trading partner in ASEAN.
Vietnam currently has 205 valid investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of 2.94 billion USD, ranking first in ASEAN and among the top 5 countries with the largest direct investment in Cambodia. Cambodia ranks second among 79 countries and territories in which Vietnam has invested abroad.
Defense and security cooperation continues to be promoted. The two sides have completed 84% of the land border demarcation and marker planting and are striving to complete the remaining 16%.
