After recovering from injury and missing the Vietnam national team, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam returned to the starting lineup as Binh Dinh drew 1-1 with Ho Chi Minh City in Round 14 of the V-League 2023-2024 on the afternoon of March 31st.
Dang Van Lam suffered an injury in the 1-0 victory against Hai Phong in Round 8 on December 27, 2023, causing him to miss the 2023 Asian Cup. After recovering, he faced further problems when Binh Dinh lost 0-2 to SLNA in Round 9 on February 18. As a result, the Vietnamese-born goalkeeper missed both of Vietnam's matches against Indonesia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers - Asian region.
After recovering from injury, Dang Van Lam returned today for Binh Dinh against Ho Chi Minh City in round 14. This timely return helps coach Bui Doan Quang Huy strengthen the defense, especially after the departure of defenders Ngoc Bao and Thanh Thinh, who moved to Nam Dinh .

On his return, Van Lam still had good ball control, constantly commanding the home team's defense. However, he was breached in the 38th minute by TP HCM's foreign player Santiago Patino after a one-on-one situation. At the beginning of the second half, Alan Alexandre headed the ball into Patrick Le Giang's net to equalize for Binh Dinh.
In the 58th minute, Van Lam made a spectacular save, using his fingertips to deny a dangerous shot from midfielder Vo Huy Toan of Ho Chi Minh City FC. The home team then had several more opportunities but their finishing was inaccurate, resulting in a draw. The team from Binh Dinh currently sits in fourth place with 22 points, 10 points behind league leaders Nam Dinh.
"My injury is stable and I played the full 90 minutes," Dang Van Lam shared. "However, we regret having to share the points at home. Recently, the team has seen some players leave and new players arrive. Through this match, we will find our rhythm together and play better in the next game against Nam Dinh."
In the match played at the same time in Thanh Hoa, Hanoi Police FC defeated the home team 2-0 with goals from Montimor in the 67th minute and Phan Van Duc in the 90+5th minute. This victory propelled Kiatisuk's team to third place with 25 points, seven points behind league leaders Nam Dinh.
In Round 15 of the Night Wolf V-League 2023-2024 national championship, Hanoi Police will host SLNA, while Thanh Hoa will play away against Hai Phong.
