In reality, women participating in collective economy and linking production of goods will improve product quality, contributing to increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods produced by women.
Participate in collective economy to develop more sustainable goods
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Dong in Vinh Tu commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province, has been involved in the work of the commune's Women's Union for many years and is close to and understands the difficulties and hardships of female farmers producing goods. Ms. Dong realized that although each woman in the commune is hard-working and diligent, if she is only a single production household, her competitiveness will be poor, unstable, and the quality of goods will not be sustainable. She came up with the idea of establishing the Vinh Tu Commune Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, which later became the Vinh Tu Safe Agricultural Products Cooperative.
The cooperative focuses on local agricultural products, starting with rustic dishes and locally available agricultural ingredients such as young melons, pickles, onions, papayas, and carrots. From the hands of the women of Vinh Tu commune, clean agricultural products such as: watermelons, pickles, mixed pickles, pickled shrimp, dried cassava flour, dried squash shrimp, etc. are produced by hand, completely without additives or preservatives. These simple but authentic rural products quickly became the brand's main products.
Ms. Dong said that production and business have gradually become more favorable, contributing to solving the problem of jobs for a number of women in the whole commune. At the same time, it also helps people limit the use of products of unknown origin and poor quality, in order to improve the quality of life of everyone.
However, Ms. Thu Dong shared that in the beginning, the production model was manual, so the production of products depended on too many factors from the production process of the people, the weather... The packaging and transportation process in the beginning was not guaranteed. These things made it difficult to build a brand, so the promotion of products was not widespread, and the market access was still limited.
Vinh Tu Safe Agricultural Products Cooperative participates in the fair to introduce products, connect product consumption, and increase the competitiveness of goods.
In order to support female members participating in cooperatives and cooperative groups to develop sustainable production of goods, improve product quality, and contribute to increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods produced by women, in recent times, the Women's Union at all levels of Quang Tri province has carried out many activities to support and encourage women to participate in the collective economy and strengthen production linkages. The Women's Union at all levels of Quang Tri province has supported the establishment of 9 cooperatives, cooperative groups, and linkage groups, including: Ta Lao village community tourism service cooperative group, Ta Long sticky rice cultivation linkage group, A Bung commune brocade weaving cooperative, Tay Thach Han ecological agriculture cooperative, Mo O commune (Dakrong district); Huong Son goat breeding linkage group (Huong Hoa district); Women's group producing safe vegetables in Cam Thuy commune (Cam Lo district); Vinh Thuy herbal incense synthesis cooperative, Vinh Tu commune safe agricultural products cooperative (Vinh Linh district).
Along with that, continue to monitor and support many aspects such as training on financial management, human resources, methods of operating cooperatives, cooperative groups, and joint groups; guide and transfer science and technology to improve product quality. Especially, organize conferences to connect supply and demand and display and introduce products of cooperatives, joint groups, and cooperative groups at 20 fairs and markets for agricultural products and rural industrial products. Establish and maintain the operation of 20 stalls introducing agricultural products of women's union members in the area.
