After many years of construction, two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway have officially opened to traffic and are expected to complete the entire route in 2026.
Today (February 7), Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) held a ceremony to open two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, contributing to completing the traffic infrastructure in the Southern region and promoting socio-economic development.
Previously, in order to meet the travel needs of people during the Lunar New Year 2025, VEC temporarily opened two sections from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong intersection to National Highway 1A and the section from Phuoc An intersection to National Highway 51 from January 23.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh - Vice Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises emphasized that putting into operation two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is not only a step forward in resolving difficulties in mechanisms and policies but also a positive signal for a prosperous new year. In particular, increasing charter capital to nearly VND 40,000 billion will be a springboard for VEC to promote its internal strength, improve its capacity to implement important projects and enter an era of growing up with the nation.
“Immediately after the opening ceremony, I request VEC to continue its determination, speed up construction progress, strive to put the remaining sections of the Eastern and Western routes into operation before April 30, and complete the entire project by 2026,” said Mr. Canh.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is 57.8 km long, part of the North - South Expressway axis passing through Long An, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City provinces with a total investment of VND29,587 billion. When completed, the route will connect the West and the Southeast regions, reducing traffic pressure in the region. |
