At the conference, in the face of the losses and grief of our compatriots affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi), Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh called on businesses, philanthropists, and Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Finland to strongly promote "national love and compatriotism" and join hands to support families suffering from loss of life and property caused by natural disasters.

On the evening of September 13 (local time), within the framework of a visit and working session at the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland, a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (HCMC) led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Le attended a conference to disseminate information on Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15 of the National Assembly and the Policy Project to effectively promote remittance resources in HCMC from now until 2030.

The conference was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland and the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City.

In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh highly appreciated the timely updates on information and development policies of Ho Chi Minh City and policies for overseas Vietnamese. In the face of the losses and grief of compatriots in the country affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi), Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh called on businesses, philanthropists, and Vietnamese people living, studying and working in Finland to strongly promote "national love and compatriotism", joining hands to support families suffering from loss of life and property caused by natural disasters.

At the conference, Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Le Truong Hai Hieu informed about the specific economic development policies piloted in Resolution 98 of the National Assembly. Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Acting Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel Policy, Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City informed about the initial results that Ho Chi Minh City has implemented since Resolution 98 took effect; information about the Project "Policy to effectively promote remittance resources in Ho Chi Minh City from now until 2030" and the city's policies and guidelines in mobilizing and promoting the resources of overseas Vietnamese to join hands in development.

Established in 2007, the Vietnamese Association in Finland has had many practical activities such as cultural activities, teaching Vietnamese, providing legal advice, and activities towards the roots... Ms. Nga Nguyen, President of the Vietnamese Association in Finland, said that the Vietnamese Association in Finland regularly organizes activities to preserve and exchange culture on traditional holidays and New Year's of the nation, thereby creating an environment to connect, exchange, maintain and use Vietnamese for the entire community.

Every month, the association also organizes training classes and exam preparation courses for the necessary certificates for overseas Vietnamese to apply for jobs in Finland. These classes help many Vietnamese people find jobs and stabilize their lives.

In the coming time, the association will continue to promote activities to preserve and promote folk cultural identity, especially maintaining and promoting traditional cultural features of the nation.

“We are determined to focus more on maintaining and preserving the Vietnamese language for the young generation of Vietnamese people in Finland; strengthen cooperation with agencies and organizations in Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, to organize many cultural, artistic and volunteer exchange activities, contributing to connecting the Vietnamese community in Finland with the homeland,” Ms. Nga Nguyen expressed.

Student representatives in Finland hope that Ho Chi Minh City will create favorable conditions and environment for international students to return to work.

The President of the Vietnamese Association in Finland also hopes that Ho Chi Minh City will have preferential policies and create favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese during their long-term stay in Ho Chi Minh City, and that when they settle in Ho Chi Minh City, they will be able to enjoy medical and social services like local people.

The conference also heard Vice President of BiziVietNam (Organization for Vietnamese Language, Culture and Cooperation in Finland) Duong Ngoc Tu inform about activities to maintain and teach Vietnamese culture in Finland and support the Vietnamese community to integrate into life in the host country.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Giao, representative of the Association of Young Vietnamese Intellectuals in Finland, introduced the purpose and activities of the association; at the same time, proposed some ideas for exchanging information and sharing expertise in some strong fields such as information technology and high technology. Ms. Giao proposed some solutions for Ho Chi Minh City to attract talents to contribute to the city.

Speaking at the conference, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le expressed her impression that the Vietnamese community has been integrating well into Finnish society, contributing to building a good image of Vietnamese people abroad, as well as the efforts of the Vietnamese community in preserving Vietnamese culture and language in foreign lands.

Informing delegates about the content of the working trip, comrade Nguyen Thi Le affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City and Finland have many similarities, therefore, Ho Chi Minh City will absorb the good values ​​and creative ideas of the neighboring country to develop the city in the future.

Regarding Resolution 98, comrade Nguyen Thi Le affirmed that this is a very important resolution, allowing Ho Chi Minh City to be the place to pilot new policy mechanisms. This resolution has many areas in which overseas Vietnamese can participate, contribute ideas, and work together to build Ho Chi Minh City to be worthy of being the country's leading city in terms of economy, science and technology...

Acknowledging the comments and proposals of delegates at the conference, comrade Nguyen Thi Le said that Ho Chi Minh City will study and advise on implementation; at the same time, propose to the Vietnamese Government for proposals beyond its authority.

He also expressed his appreciation for the kindness of Vietnamese people in Finland for their practical activities towards their compatriots in the homeland affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi).

Responding to the Government's Project "Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Overseas Vietnamese Community in the period of 2023 - 2030", on this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented the Vietnamese Bookcase to the representative of BiziVietNam with the desire to honor the richness of the Vietnamese language, raise awareness of the national language and culture for overseas Vietnamese in Finland and international friends, especially the young generation; strongly spread the love of Vietnamese, becoming a driving force to promote the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the community.
