According to the estimated data for 2023, up to now, the province has achieved and exceeded 15/18 main socio-economic targets, and 3/18 targets are close to the set plan. The total product in the province (GRDP) is estimated to increase by 6.68%, ranking 32nd in the country and about 5% higher than the national average growth rate. The average consumer price index in 2023 increased by 3.5% over the same period last year.
The industrial sector maintained a growth rate of 7.95%. The agricultural, forestry and fishery sector achieved many positive results, with an estimated growth rate of 5.41%. Trade and service activities continued to recover, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue estimated at VND30,704 billion, up 15.1% over the plan. Total two-way turnover through international border gates in the province is estimated at USD665.6 million, up 7.47% over the same period last year.

In 2023, the province attracted 47 projects with a total investment of more than VND 3,321 billion. At the same time, it focused on directing and effectively implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, with an expected rate of 74/101 communes meeting new rural standards (accounting for 73.26%).
Strengthen administrative reform, improve the investment environment; shorten the time to process business registration procedures below the national average.
Continue to direct the implementation of activities connecting labor supply and demand, creating new jobs for 15,600 workers, reaching 130% of the set plan. Poverty reduction is focused on and it is estimated that the poverty rate in 2023 will decrease by 1.2%, equivalent to a decrease of about 2,050 households, achieving the set plan.
In 2023, the province successfully organized major holidays such as: The 50th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated area of Quang Tri province (1973 - 2023); the 100th anniversary of General Doan Khue's birth on October 29 (1923-2023). In addition, the province successfully completed the tasks of the provincial defense area exercise and the provincial civil defense exercise in 2023.
The general goal of the province's socio-economic development plan and national defense and security assurance plan for 2024 is to focus on successfully implementing the tasks and solutions set forth in the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
