Urgent notice for students in the whole province to stay home from school on September 19

Late on September 18, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province said that due to the complicated developments caused by the impact of a tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm, the provincial People's Committee has just decided to let students in the entire province stay home from school on September 19.

Implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien - Hue province announces: Departments of Education and Training, vocational education and continuing education centers and units under the Department of Education and Training notify all teachers and students to take a day off on September 19 to prevent storms and floods.

According to Thanh Nien reporters, since the morning of September 18, in Thua Thien - Hue, there has been heavy rain, not lasting long but very heavy, with the risk of flooding.

To proactively respond, many people have raised their belongings and moved their cars to safe places to avoid damage. On the afternoon of September 18, households living in areas at risk of landslides were also evacuated to safety by local authorities. Thousands of boats have come ashore to anchor, proactively facing the complicated weather developments.

Regarding the situation of reservoirs, dykes, and aquaculture, according to the Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien - Hue province, it is currently the end of the dry season, so the water levels of irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs are low, and the reservoirs are operating safely.

Heavy rain is forecast to continue in Thua Thien Hue province until September 21. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The heaviest rain will be concentrated from the evening of September 18 to noon of September 20. Total rainfall for the entire period will be 150 - 300 mm, with some places reaching over 450 mm.
