Along Cach Mang Thang Tam Street in Tan Binh District, many sections have seen residents vacate their homes and hand over the land for the project. To date, the land handover rate along the entire route has reached nearly 87%, with 508 out of a total of 586 affected cases having handed over their land.
The Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro line was previously scheduled for completion in 2026, but encountered numerous obstacles, leading to an extension to 2030, along with two years for repairs and warranty periods. Once operational, the line will open up a new mode of high-volume transportation, meeting the travel needs from the city center to the northwestern gateway of the city.
Ben Thanh - Tham Luong is a segment of the city's Metro Line 2 that was implemented first. The subsequent phase will include the construction of the Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem, Tham Luong - Tay Ninh Bus Station, and Tay Ninh Bus Station - Northwest Cu Chi area sections, with a total length of over 37 km.
In addition to lines 1 and 2, Ho Chi Minh City is also planned to have Metro lines 5, 3b, 4, and 6, facilitating passenger transfer along the east-west axis into the city center.
