Caudron Genius Takes Off
Frederic Caudron did not participate in the Seoul 2024 World Cup in November in South Korea to keep himself safe. The Belgian genius missed out on a chance to seek his first title since leaving the PBA and returning to his "old home" - the tournament system of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB).
The 2024 Sharm ek Sheikh World Cup taking place in Egypt will witness the return of Frederic Caudron. The player born in 1968 is scheduled to appear from the 4th (final) qualifying round, competing from the afternoon of December 4. Caudron will play his first match at 4:30 p.m.
Genius Caudron to play in the final qualifying round of the 2024 Sharm el Sheikh World Cup
Accordingly, the player who has won 21 World Cup stages is in Group H with Cha Myeong-jong (Korea) and another name who passed the 3rd qualifying round. Finding a ticket to the main round (32 players) of the 2024 Sharm ek Sheikh World Cup will not be simple, when Group B has Cha Myeong-jong, a player of class and has created many surprises.
However, Caudron is still the most highly rated and promises to win a ticket to the next round if he plays at his best. Fans of 3-cushion billiards around the world are looking forward to the Belgian genius contributing beautiful shots on his return to the World Cup arena, in the final stage in 2024.
Expectations of going deep at the Egyptian Billiards World Cup
Not only did he pass the final qualifying round, Frederic Caudron is also expected to continue his explosive performance at the 2024 Sharm ek Sheikh World Cup. The Belgian player's class is unquestionable, and he has proven it by continuously reaching the top of the World Cup stages since returning to UMB.
After leaving PBA, Caudron chose to return from the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup in May. Up to now, the Belgian player has competed in a total of 4 World Cups. Of which, Caudron has advanced 3 times, reaching the quarterfinals of the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup, the semifinals of the Porto - Portugal World Cup in July and the finals of the Veghel - Netherlands World Cup in October (losing to Tran Quyet Chien in the championship match).
Caudron's best result since returning to UMB was runner-up at the Veghel World Cup - Netherlands in October.
The continuous good results at the World Cup helped Caudron make a spectacular rise in the world rankings. From being outside the top 3,000 in May, the Belgian player is now approaching the top 20, currently ranked 23rd with 120 points.
It was his rapid rise in the rankings that helped Caudron be assigned to appear from the 4th qualifying round, instead of competing from the 1st or 2nd qualifying round as before. Having to compete with high frequency from the first qualifying rounds was considered a challenge (in terms of physical strength) for a player who was nearly 60 years old like Caudron.
Therefore, starting from the 4th qualifying round also means that Caudron will have fewer matches to play, thereby ensuring the best condition when entering the next rounds. The player nicknamed the billiards genius is still hungry for the first championship since returning to UMB.
The 4th qualifying round of the Sharm el Sheikh Billiards World Cup 2024 has 36 players competing, divided equally into 12 groups. The groups compete in a round-robin to calculate points and rank. The top players in each group (12 players) and the 3 best runners-up will qualify for the main round.
