On the social network X , Mr. Zoltan Kovacs - Secretary of State in charge of communications and international relations at the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office - quoted Mr. Orban as saying: "We cannot join either bloc; our interests lie in deep ties with both blocs."
The head of the Hungarian government described the two blocs as “the Eastern economy and the Western economy”.
According to Prime Minister Orban, Hungary will only be able to ensure its future prosperity by “taking the best from both sides”.
Prime Minister Orban stressed that Budapest will need to be “economically neutral” in the next 10 years to maintain its position in a rapidly changing world.
“We must put aside all pressures that harm the future of our country,” he asserted.
Earlier, speaking at the United Nations Future Summit in New York (USA), Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the world could be threatened by World War III or division. He pointed out that Hungary had suffered a lot in the past due to division into blocs and wanted the next decades to be characterized by the connection between countries and fair international cooperation.
