Young doctors follow Uncle Ho's teachings, volunteering for community health

On May 14, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union deployed Plan No. 73-KH/TWH dated April 21, 2023 on organizing the Young Doctors' Day following Uncle Ho's teachings, volunteering for community health in 2023, with the theme "Digital transformation in volunteering for community health care" and organized the Central-level launching ceremony at 15/5 Square (Do Son district, Hai Phong city).

This is the 13th consecutive year the Festival has been held, with the aim of strengthening the screening of chronic diseases and applying digital transformation in supporting the enhancement of regular health care for people, with many activities to honor revolutionary families, heroic Vietnamese mothers, families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, and people in difficult circumstances; strengthening solidarity, gathering young doctors in community activities, contributing to the cause of protecting, caring for and improving people's health; promoting the role of youth and young doctors in digital transformation of activities of the Union and Association.

It is expected that on May 14, provincial, municipal youth unions and associations across the country will organize free medical examination and treatment programs and social security activities for the community, with specific targets: 6,000 young doctors will participate in the Festival, 50,000 people will receive direct consultation and medical examination, 50,000 people will receive consultation on using health care apps, 50,000 people will receive online health consultation, 100% of people will have access to information on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and post-COVID-19 symptoms, 10,000 volunteers will be trained in nutrition and prevention of epidemics, natural disasters, and mobilize members and young people to donate 10,000 units of blood...

Activities in this year's festival include: voluntary examination, screening, and consultation; volunteer activities for the community; reaching out to borders and islands; recruiting new party members; donating equipment to support digital transformation in healthcare in voluntary medical examination activities...

The highlight of this year's activities are programs to promote digital transformation in healthcare such as: Deploying the installation of the Facare health care app, using online testing devices, especially in the care of patients with high blood pressure and diabetes. The Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, along with philanthropists, Hoang Long General Clinic and the Endoscopy Center - Hanoi Medical University Hospital organized training and donated 10 sets of the latest generation of ultrasound machines ARIETT 650 Deepsight, with AI (artificial intelligence) installed, worth 1 million USD, to 10 district-level general hospitals in the provinces and cities: Son La, Yen Bai, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, Can Tho, Hue, Soc Trang, Dak Lak, Ha Tinh.

Within the framework of the Launching Ceremony, the Central Association organized the donation of 30 essential medicine cabinets and national flags to the fishing boats of fishermen at sea; presented 30 scholarships to children in difficult circumstances; visited and presented gifts to 10 families of heroic Vietnamese mothers and soldiers of the unnumbered ships; provided free medical examination and medicine and remote medical consultation to more than 1,000 people; organized a health, nutrition and hygiene festival for 500 children in the area; donated 2 sets of computers and printers to Do Son Border Guard Station and Bach Long Vy Border Guard Station; CP Livestock Joint Stock Company sponsored medical examination and gifts to 10 provinces, worth 320 million VND. The total value of program resources in the Launching Ceremony was nearly 800 million VND.

In addition to social security activities, the delegation also attended the Party admission ceremony for young doctors and volunteers at the K15 Train No. relic site and at Do Son High School, encouraging the youth and doctors to continue to be pioneers in volunteering, striving even harder, and proudly marching under the Party flag.

Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Luong shared that in more than 3 years of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, doctors have become familiar with and better understood the role of using information technology in medical examination and treatment and digital transformation, changing old methods to new ones. People who are beneficiaries of the pandemic have also accessed telemedicine, so they can easily use online medical examination services.

The Vietnam Young Physicians Association has clearly demonstrated its pioneering role in digital transformation in healthcare, organizing many training programs, improving qualifications and applying digital technology for young physicians, youth union volunteers, and performing remote medical examination and treatment and healthcare. Some notable programs include: Companion Physician, Non-communicable Disease Management App, Companion Pharmacy, Clinic 4.0, etc.

On May 14, 40 provinces and cities across the country also simultaneously organized the Young Doctors' Day following Uncle Ho's teachings, volunteering for community health in 2023./.
