Hanoi's largest park, Thong Nhat Park, will be renovated, with the removal of over 1,700 meters of surrounding fencing and the installation of security cameras to monitor public order.
The Hanoi People's Council has just approved an investment of over 400 billion VND from the city budget to renovate and upgrade Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung district. The city will build new rest areas with restrooms and amenities; install aesthetic lighting and sound systems; cameras; and a garbage collection system.
The park entrance, located on Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Dai Co Viet streets, will be upgraded. Other facilities to be renovated include: the central internal road network, the large square, the exhibition area combined with a pedestrian street, the children's playground, and the sports and fitness area...
The total area to be renovated is approximately 48 hectares, including 16.5 hectares of water surface. The project is scheduled to be implemented from 2023 to 2026.

Earlier, at the end of December 2022, nearly 400 meters of fencing along Tran Nhan Tong Street were removed, creating an open space connecting to the pedestrian street around Thien Quang Lake.
Thong Nhat Park is Hanoi's largest park, covering over 50 hectares, situated between four streets: Tran Nhan Tong, Le Duan, Dai Co Viet, and Nguyen Dinh Chieu. Its perimeter fence has been constructed and renovated over several periods, with a total length of 2,160 meters and seven entrance gates.

Along with Thong Nhat Park, the City People's Council also agreed on the plan to renovate Bach Thao Park (approximately 148 billion VND) and Thu Le Park (330 billion VND). Bach Thao Park is located in the political center (Ngoc Ha ward, Ba Dinh district) so it will retain its fence. Thu Le Park, which has a zoo, will be renovated in a way that is both open and enclosed (with fences in the paid area, and the rest removed to create open spaces).
According to the plan, during the 2021-2025 period, Hanoi will upgrade and renovate 45 existing parks and gardens (out of a total of 63); and urge investors to accelerate progress and complete parks such as Chu Van An (project 2 - architectural works), CV1, Kim Quy, Phung Khoang, the park in the Southwest Hanoi urban area, and the cultural, entertainment, and sports park in Ha Dong district.
