According to information from the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, in order to prepare well for the successful organization of the Lao Bao - Densavanh Cross-Border Economic Zone Workshop in March 2024, on February 27, 2024, in Savannakhet province (Laos), the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center had a working session with the Special Economic Zone Management Board and the Department of Planning and Investment of Savannakhet province.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged and discussed contents related to the project of the Lao Bao (Quang Tri province) - Densavanh (Savannakhet province) cross-border economic and trade zone and the draft Agreement on the pilot construction of the Lao Bao - Densavanh cross-border economic and trade zone between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Laos along with a number of related specific policy mechanisms.
The contents that the two sides are interested in discussing in depth include information on planning, scale, area, mechanisms, policies, viewpoints, and guidelines of Quang Tri province and Savannakhet province to supplement and complete the project to build a common cross-border economic and trade zone of Lao Bao - Densavanh before organizing the workshop.
The delegation of the Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board and the Quang Tri Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center requested Savannakhet Province to urge the collection of opinions from businesses on the mechanisms and preferential policies expected to be applied in the Lao Bao - Densavanh Cross-Border Economic and Trade Zone and to speed up the implementation of other tasks to successfully organize the workshop with Quang Tri Province.
The Lao Bao - Densavanh Cross-Border Economic Zone Workshop will take place on March 15, 2024 in Lao Bao town, Huong Hoa district. The workshop will be attended by leaders of central and local ministries, branches of Vietnam and Laos, partners, businesses, experts, and domestic and foreign investors.
