Taking the lead twice, U23 Vietnam still had a 2-2 draw with U23 Singapore in the final match of the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.

Coach Philippe Troussier’s team officially won a ticket to the final round, while the Singapore U23 team was also officially eliminated. Therefore, this is considered a test match for both sides.
After the opening whistle, U23 Vietnam proactively pushed up their formation to dominate the game. Although U23 Vietnam did not put too much pressure on the opponent, U23 Singapore rarely passed the ball past half of the field.
In the 12th minute, Vi Hao won a penalty after being fouled in the opponent's penalty area. Dinh Bac successfully kicked the penalty to open the score of the match.
Playing superiorly but only scoring 1 goal in the first 45 minutes, coach Troussier seemed dissatisfied, he decided to renew the strength of U23 Vietnam after the break by replacing 3 players on the field.
In the first minutes of the second half, U23 Vietnam continuously put pressure on the opponent's goal but could not score a second goal.
The surprise happened in the 58th minute, Huu Nam accidentally headed the ball into his own net from the opponent's corner kick. This was also the first goal that U23 Vietnam had to concede in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.
Having been equalized by U23 Singapore, U23 Vietnam tried to attack to find more goals but Coach Troussier's players did not play very well. In the 77th minute, Huu Nam scored with a decisive shot from inside the penalty area, helping U23 Vietnam take the lead 2-1.
However, U23 Vietnam was once again tied. In the 84th minute, while pushing up their attack, U23 Vietnam fell victim to a counter-attack and Vasileios helped Singapore equalize 2-2. The draw remained until the end of the match.
Letting U23 Singapore equalize in the final minutes, coach Philippe Troussier and his team ended their journey in the 2024 U23 Asia group stage with an unbeaten record (2 wins, 1 draw).
In Group C, only U23 Vietnam is eligible to participate in the 2024 U23 Asian Finals.
According to plan, after the end of the 2023 U23 Asian qualifiers, the core force of U23 Vietnam will join the Vietnam Olympic team to prepare to go to China to attend the 19th Asian Games on September 16.
