Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien - Chief of Office of Nha Trang City People's Committee - said that the inspection team led by the City Department of Culture and Information inspected the seafood restaurant "Thanh Suong" at 102 Tran Phu, after receiving feedback from the press and tourists. Currently, they are synthesizing to have a report to the city for handling.
Customers eat at the "fake" restaurant, scold the real restaurant.
Ms. Dang Thi Thu Suong - owner of Thanh Suong restaurant (15 Tran Phu) - said that the group of customers led by Mr. Cuong (the person who posted the complaint on social media on March 31) had booked a table at the restaurant on the evening of March 30, but then because they had to go to another restaurant, they canceled.

"My restaurant has been in business for nearly 10 years, selling at local prices, without giving any tips to taxi drivers, so when tourists want to eat at my restaurant, they are often taken to 'fake restaurants', these restaurants often pay high commissions to drivers and cyclo drivers. When customers come to these restaurants and are not satisfied or are 'ripped off', they report it to our restaurant, which gives me a headache," said Ms. Suong.
According to Ms. Suong, Thanh Suong restaurant was granted a trademark certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property on May 12, 2022 and is valid for 10 years. She had previously submitted documents to relevant agencies regarding the handling of "copycat" and "impersonating" restaurant names, but to date, it has not been processed.
"I often post information about the official address, as well as instruct customers to go to the right restaurant. I hope the authorities will soon intervene to protect customers and the reputation of the restaurant," Ms. Suong suggested.
On the morning of April 7, Thanh Suong seafood restaurant at 102 Tran Phu was closed. Less than two stores away, there is also a seafood restaurant named Thanh Suong. A series of Thanh Suong restaurants along Tran Phu Street make tourists feel like they are lost in a maze, not knowing which restaurant is real.

Mr. Nguyen Phi Hong Nguyen - Vice President of Khanh Hoa Tourism Association - said that the situation of copying and imitating brands happens quite a lot, especially in the service and travel sectors.
Therefore, establishments and businesses should register their trademarks for protection. Only then will there be sufficient grounds to sue and request the handling of establishments that infringe on trade names.
"We advise tourists to carefully research restaurants and hotels before going to a tourist destination on official information sites such as Khanh Hoa Tourism Information Portal (nhatrang-travel.com), Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association (ekhanhhoa.com) to see reputable restaurants and hotels... or ask in groups sharing travel experiences," Mr. Nguyen shared.
A representative of Market Management Team No. 1 said that at address 102 Tran Phu, in April 2023, the authorities had previously fined 20.75 million VND for many violations. In which, the owner of the establishment hung a signboard as "Nha Be" but on the business registration certificate the name was "Thanh Suong", so the establishment did not fully display on the signboard according to the business registration certificate.

"The signboard of this facility is Thanh Suong, but the heavy mark is sunken and hidden because it matches the background color. The City Department of Culture and Information will check and handle this matter," informed a representative of Market Management Team No. 1.
Through the reporter's observation, both "Thanh Suong" restaurant at 102 Tran Phu and "Thanh Suong" restaurant nearby have the heavy accent "Thanh Suong", but the heavy accent is too small, sinking into the background color, tourists have to concentrate and strain their eyes to see clearly, so it is easy to confuse.
Mr. Le Anh Van - Director of International Taxi Company - said that the company has contacted and apologized to customers, and the three drivers accused of taking passengers to the wrong restaurant are still temporarily suspended from work. These three drivers committed a serious mistake of taking passengers to the wrong location as requested.
