Hanoi is the first locality in the country to have a separate Resolution on developing cultural industry.
Such strong political determination has created the premise for Hanoi’s creative industry to reap remarkable achievements. The city has become a diverse cultural center with many outstanding art events such as the annual Creative Design Weeks, each with a new color, the blossoming of public spaces and street art.
The spirit of creativity has inspired start-up activities, especially efforts to innovate cultural and artistic activities in the capital, with the "Sacred Night" at Hoa Lo Prison Relic Site, Night Tour with 3D mapping technology with the theme "The Quintessence of Taoism", or Night Tour "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel"...

Digital transformation in the cultural field is actively implemented in museums such as: Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, National History Museum, Hanoi Museum, Ho Chi Minh Museum... Especially the liveliness and creativity in organizing Creative Design Week, Ao Dai Tourism Week, Tourism Gift Festival... with a series of accompanying activities and exhibitions, has created new vitality for the capital's culture.
Along with that, Hanoi has gradually become a leading destination for international art events. If the international music festival Monsoon Monsoon, Hanoi International Film Festival continues with increasingly better scale and quality, attracting the attention of famous artists at home and abroad, then the events of BlackPink, Kenny G or Bond... have really helped Hanoi mark its name as one of the destinations for international art in the region and on a global scale.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education, said that Hanoi has received the attention and admiration of art lovers around the world for successfully coordinating to organize these major events. This is an important premise for the capital to continue to be the destination of larger events in the coming years. These events and spaces not only promote cultural interactions but also enrich the spiritual life of the people.
Besides activities, creative infrastructure also receives strong investment from Hanoi.
Art centers, creative spaces, and technology parks have been developed, creating ideal conditions for artists, designers, and startup founders. Typical examples include Hoan Kiem Theater, Vincom Center for Contemporary Arts, Toong Co-working Space, To Chim Xanh, O Kia Ha Noi, Hanoi Creative City... and many other locations that have become a convergence of innovative and creative ideas.
In particular, Hoan Kiem district has completed the renovation and restoration work, and put into operation the 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Artistic Space, Quang Vinh Ceramics Company Limited inaugurated the Vietnamese Craft Village Essence Center in Bat Trang. Along with that, many exhibitions have been held in the past at the Hanoi Museum, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the Temple of Literature.

Not only are creative spaces being expanded, with more effective and quality activities, but now the creative spirit has spread to every corner and road of Hanoi. We can see the movement to beautify residential areas, roads, and alleys voluntarily and actively by the communities themselves, or the collection of opinions on building bridges, renovating buildings... all receiving the attention and response of many people.
“When we have conceived that a road is not just for walking, a street lamp is not just for lighting, a building is not just for living... everything needs to become a work of art, a new symbol of the city, so that we can tell beautiful stories about Hanoi. That is also the time when the creative spirit has become a resource for the sustainable and happy development of the capital, worthy of the title of a thousand years of culture”, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son said.
According to him, Hanoi is proving itself not only as a center of innovation but also as a beacon for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. The city is realizing an inspiring vision: combining modern creativity with the preservation of precious traditional values.
The strong investment in culture, with around VND14 trillion earmarked for the 2021-2025 period, is not only an impressive figure but also a manifestation of a deep commitment to cultural heritage. Hanoi is building a city brand where culture is not only preserved but also cherished and promoted as an essential part of a comprehensive development strategy.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong shared that when joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Hanoi's goal is to use cultural resources and cultural creativity as the foundation for sustainable urban development.
This event also helps to establish new cultural development goals, inspire creativity and position a new brand for Hanoi in the international arena.

To achieve the goal of bringing creative activities into life, spreading the creative spirit among all classes of people, mobilizing the community to participate in creative activities, Hanoi coordinated with relevant parties to launch many creative competitions contributing to urban reconstruction, sustainable development for all classes of people, focusing on the young generation such as: "Designing Hanoi creative space", "Designing Km 0", "Sketching Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam", "Creative Hanoi", "Designing Hanoi public art"...
It can be said that Hanoi has turned the title of Creative City into a powerful tool to promote the design industry, create impressive products and projects, and attract attention from the international community. This title has helped the city affirm its role on the global design map, while opening up new opportunities for sustainable and creative development.

Through the festival, Hanoi encourages the formation of a creative community, connecting different cultural industries such as architecture, fine arts, performing arts, design, etc., thereby forming creative platforms to promote cultural resources, especially Hanoi's traditional culture.
The festival has the theme “Flow”, focusing on 3 main pillars: design, community and creativity, expressed diversely through more than 60 cultural activities with 4 magnificent architectural works, 16 exhibitions, 17 seminars - talks, 9 art shows, a series of community events and a creative fair.
The festival's experiential route aims at the lifeline connecting the historical, cultural, economic and social values of the capital, with special emphasis on the connection between the two banks of the river via the historic Long Bien bridge, while highlighting the historical and cultural values in the districts and towns of the city.
Not only that, the festival also creates new experiences by turning industrial heritage into a creative cultural complex, creating new services and products and attracting investment, implementing the strategy of developing the capital's cultural industry, towards sustainable development.
For the first time, people can visit the buildings that have existed for hundreds of years in the capital Hanoi from a different perspective with a completely new look. Buildings such as Hang Dau Water Pump, Long Bien Bridge, Gia Lam Railway Factory, Hanoi Railway Station, Long Bien Railway Station, etc. have been redesigned by architects and artists to become unique architectural and artistic exhibition spaces.

Following the success of 2023, from November 9-17, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 will be held with the theme "Creative Crossroads". The event aims to pilot a creative economic experience route for the city in the future, demonstrating Hanoi's innovation potential. Thereby, contributing to resonance, connection, awakening the spirit of creativity and attracting resources.
The festival’s experience route will be an opportunity to bring prominent architectural works associated with Hanoi’s history closer to the lives of the people. Accordingly, the Government Guest House will open its doors to visitors for the first time. Tours to the Opera House, the University of General Sciences, etc. will be “activated”.

Many creative activities held in the area will become a dialogue between historical works and modern creative ideas. From there, we will seek the role of the younger generation in continuing and promoting national values throughout the process of building a creative industry. This is a premise to promote the development of the Capital into a creative center of the country.
Within the framework of the Festival, there will be nearly 100 creative activities taking place, with highlights being iconic works, creative space model installations, exhibitions, art performances, and experiences. Many talks and seminars with the participation of domestic and foreign experts in the creative field will also be held.
Each year, the themes and scale of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival have expanded, becoming a festival for innovation lovers across the country. Organizing the Festival is one of the meaningful activities to position and strengthen the brand of Hanoi as a creative city in the context of the city's efforts to effectively implement its "creative commitments" when joining the UNESCO Network.
According to Ms. Ramla Khalidi, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam, the Hanoi Creative Design Festival is a typical example of the city's success in realizing its vision of becoming the Creative Capital of Vietnam.
Through public-private partnerships that foster a vibrant and youth-oriented creative cultural industry, Hanoi has demonstrated that culture can be a driving force for socio-economic development by mobilizing its abundant youthful energy to innovate and make Hanoi a better place for all its citizens.
