This request was made by the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee after the mini apartment fire in the area, to share the grief and loss of the victims' families.
City leaders requested departments, districts, towns and cities to direct functional units to temporarily suspend cultural, sports and entertainment activities and events organized by units under Hanoi.

The city also directed local agencies and units to simultaneously hold a minute of silence for the victims who died in the fire at 8:00 a.m. on September 18 (Monday).
Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh will also shorten his working program abroad to return to direct after this incident caused particularly serious consequences.
On the same day, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi issued an official dispatch regarding the organization of a memorial service for the victims of the fire, starting from September 15 (ie August 1 of the lunar calendar).
