Accused of collecting 100,000 VND "attitude fee"
Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Bui Truong An (a tourist from Hanoi ) said that on the afternoon of May 3, he booked a table for 4 people at Truong Phat restaurant (Cat Ba, Hai Phong) via phone and text message.
That evening, he and a younger brother went to get the table first, and there were 4 staff members to welcome them. He said he was coming to get the table for 4 people that he had booked, but the staff member said "what about a table for 4 people?".
Then he sat down at the table and waited. The food was all served, and about 30 minutes later the restaurant brought the dipping sauce. He wondered why a table of 4 people had only one bowl of dipping sauce, but the staff said the restaurant was out of it. He asked for another dipping sauce, and the restaurant staff brought it out.
When he returned home, he paid the total of 1,450,000 VND. He put the bill in his pocket, and when he checked it the next morning, he discovered that the difference compared to the dish he ordered was 100,000 VND.
On May 4, he went to Google Map to review the restaurant. About 10 minutes later, a person calling himself Long called and explained that the restaurant charged 1,350,000 VND, and the remaining amount was 1,450,000 VND, the difference of 100,000 VND was due to his attitude towards the staff there.
At around 8:00 p.m. on May 4, Mr. An continued to receive a phone call from a person claiming to be Tinh, a friend of the restaurant owner, threatening and asking him to delete the post, but because he was not the restaurant owner, he did not delete it.
Too upset, on May 5, he posted on social media. After that, the restaurant discussed with him, but the two sides could not reach a common voice and the restaurant refused to resolve the issue.

What does the restaurant say?
At noon on May 10, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of Truong Phat restaurant said that on May 3, a female named Doan Yen booked a table at the restaurant via Zalo, the restaurant confirmed this reservation. At around 8:30 p.m. the same day, the restaurant called to ask if she had arrived yet, and Doan Yen said she was on her way.
After that, two male friends at the same table with Doan Yen went down to the raft to eat. Because the person who booked was a woman, the restaurant did not know that the customer had made a reservation in advance. The restaurant staff asked many times if the reservation had been made, but the male friend did not answer.
Because the restaurant was crowded at that time, seeing the staff in a difficult situation, the restaurant owner came out and asked "Sir, is there a problem?", the man angrily said "What does it matter whether we made a reservation or not, what's the problem...?".
Then the restaurant staff took the two men to the table and ordered their dishes. Because there were so many customers, the restaurant ran out of dipping sauce, so they told the customers to sympathize and change to another dipping sauce, green pepper salt. All four customers agreed and ate.
About an hour later, the customer asked for dipping sauce again. The two restaurant staff continued to explain that the restaurant was out of dipping sauce and told the customer to wait a moment to go to the next raft to ask for some.
When the staff asked for the dipping sauce and brought it out, the customer complained about why it wasn't brought out earlier. After that, the group ate and drank normally, and after finishing, the customer paid and left without any complaints. The next day, the customer posted information and reviews of the restaurant online, including an allegation that the restaurant charged an additional 100,000 VND for "attitude fee".
According to the restaurant representative, after the incident occurred, the restaurant reported it to Cat Ba Town Police and provided information to the authorities.
Regarding the restaurant allegedly charging an additional 100,000 VND for "attitude fee", the restaurant representative confirmed that it only charged 1,350,000 VND, and did not charge any other amount called "attitude fee".
"The restaurant confirms that the handwriting in the customer's note is not true. The restaurant has also provided all evidence to the police, including the original note. Therefore, the restaurant is currently only working with the police to clarify the case, not working privately with the customer," said a restaurant representative.
