The midfielder, born in 1988, retired, ending his playing career at the age of 34 with a huge list of achievements. He switched to coaching but will not work at Hanoi FC but will join another club.

Thanh Luong started his career with Hanoi FC, then moved to Hanoi T&T (now Hanoi FC) in 2013. He played 235 matches in the V-League (according to Soccerway data) for the two capital teams. Thanh Luong's playing time in the past 3 years has gradually decreased due to age. He only started 1 match in the 2023 V-League.
Thanh Luong's biggest individual honors are 4 Vietnamese Golden Balls (most) in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2016. This midfielder was also a member of the Vietnamese team that won the AFF Cup for the first time (in 2008).
Playing for Hanoi FC, Thanh Luong won 5 V.League championships (2013, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022), 3 National Cups (2019, 2020, 2022) and 4 Vietnam Super Cups (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022). The player wearing the number 11 shirt had 240 appearances, scoring 18 goals and many assists for his teammates.
