Thanh Hoa City has more than 2,000 flooded households in 24 villages and towns in 10 riverside communes and wards. As the water recedes, households proactively sweep away mud and soil, clean furniture and belongings, and collect trash.

The City Police Youth Union coordinated with the authorities, sectors, and organizations of the wards to clear mud, clean, and rearrange tables and chairs at cultural houses and schools.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command directed Regiment 762 to mobilize nearly 200 officers and soldiers with Thanh Hoa City Military Command to go to the grassroots level, accompanying the people of Thieu Duong and Thieu Khanh wards in general environmental sanitation.

The army divided into working groups to collect garbage, clear sewers, and drain mud and water along residential roads so that people could travel safely and conveniently. They also went directly to single-parent households and policy families to help clean their houses and overcome the consequences of floods.

The children went to work far away, leaving only the elderly and weak grandparents at home. Mr. Duong Dinh Vu, village 4, Thieu Duong ward, Thanh Hoa city, was helped to clean tables, chairs, utensils, and the house, so his life soon stabilized again.

To proactively prevent and combat epidemics, Thanh Hoa health sector promptly organized professional training; directed and guided affiliated units to focus resources, equipment, and medical supplies; enhanced environmental sanitation to prevent skin diseases, diarrhea, and dengue fever that often arise after floods, and protect people's health.

Director of Thanh Hoa City Medical Center Le Viet Hung said: In addition to arranging a mobile emergency team ready to assist and handle arising situations, the Center has distributed 20 sets of preventive and treatment drugs, 150kg of Cloramin B along with protective equipment, specialized machines, and deployed preventive medical activities. The Center mobilized 150 medical staff in the unit and from wards and communes that were not flooded, along with support forces, to mechanically clean flooded residential areas, instruct people on how to treat domestic water sources, and spray Cloramin to disinfect the environment.

Along with strengthening and maintaining the mobile anti-epidemic teams to support lower levels in monitoring and handling epidemics and infectious diseases that often arise in rainy and flood conditions; Thanh Hoa Provincial Center for Disease Control has provided more than 3,100 kg of Cloramin B and 243 liters of mosquito and insect killing chemicals to 27 district, town and city medical centers to respond to, prevent and control epidemics; organized professional and emergency duty 24/24 hours, ready to admit and provide emergency care to patients; directed the grassroots level to increase medical examinations, instruct people to maintain personal hygiene, protect their health and promptly detect and treat diseases early.
