Despite scoring 6 goals against the opponent, coach Troussier was still not satisfied with the way Van Tung and his teammates finished.

I understand that there will be criticism because U23 Vietnam should have scored more goals. I agree because U23 Vietnam had many opportunities and should have scored 3 or 4 more goals against the opponent," said coach Troussier.
In the early stages of the match, despite dominating possession, U23 Vietnam seemed stuck in finding a way into U23 Guam's goal.
But in the second half, the red team played more easily and continuously scored goals.
Talking about this, the French strategist said: “In the first 10 minutes, I knew the problem of U23 Vietnam was the lack of balance, especially the operation in the right wing position. Immediately after that, I signaled Van Cuong to start.
In the second half, Van Cuong helped U23 Vietnam have a clear advantage. We analyzed and concluded that U23 Guam's weakness was on the flanks. In the locker room, I reminded them to exploit more the space on the flanks to create opportunities.
In the second half, U23 Vietnam created many dangerous situations on the wing. Duc Phu is not a full-back, that is not his forte. On the other wing, Minh Trong and Van Khang had many dangerous situations.
With the victory over U23 Guam, U23 Vietnam temporarily took the lead in Group C.
However, coach Troussier said he will still focus on studying the next opponent, U23 Yemen, the team considered the number one opponent of U23 Vietnam in this qualifying round.
“I will go back to observe and evaluate U23 Yemen further. They defeated U23 Singapore 3-0, so the next match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Yemen will be pivotal. The winner will almost certainly advance.
For me, no player is certain to have a starting position. The final choice depends on their form and performance at that time. I have about 80 U23 Vietnam players who can basically meet the tactical requirements," said the French coach.
According to the schedule, on September 9, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Yemen in the second match of Group C of the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.
