Promotion of rank for deputy police chief of ward who died on duty

On January 13, the Minister of Public Security decided to promote the rank of professional officer for Captain Tran Duy Hung, Deputy Chief of Police of Thuy Van Ward, Hue City (Thua Thien - Hue) to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The decision will take effect from today, January 13.

Leaders of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police attended the funeral ceremony and the military flag-draped coffin of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung.

The promotion is to promptly recognize the brave actions of the Deputy Chief of Police of Thuy Van Ward in attacking and suppressing crime.

The Ministry of Public Security also supported the family of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung with 100 million VND, taken from the People's Public Security Comradeship Fund.

On the same day, the working delegation of the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province and the Board of Directors of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Police together with many colleagues, relatives and people attended the funeral ceremony and the military flag-draped coffin of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung.

Here, the delegation sent their condolences and encouraged Lieutenant Colonel Hung's family to overcome the loss soon. At the same time, they directed units to focus on supporting Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung's family in funeral arrangements.

Previously, at around 6:00 p.m. on January 12, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung received a report that at Xuan Hoa residential group, Thuy Van ward, Nguyen Tan Sang (25 years old, residing in Thuy Van ward) was showing signs of mental disorder, blocking vehicles, causing trouble, and threatening passersby.

Lieutenant Colonel Hung, along with the on-duty officer and civil defense staff, quickly arrived at the scene to handle the incident.

Seeing the suspect acting recklessly and holding a dangerous weapon, threatening the lives and health of the people, Lieutenant Colonel Hung bravely jumped in to control him.

During the process of controlling the suspect, Lieutenant Colonel Hung was repeatedly stabbed in the neck by Sang, causing him to lose a lot of blood. Although he was taken to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duy Hung died due to his severe injuries.
