During these days of May, at the Duc Thanh historical site (Phan Thiet city), officials, staff, and tour guides are constantly welcoming people from within and outside the province who come to offer incense, report on their achievements, and visit to learn about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. The number of visitors to the site is very large, and the workload is heavy, but all the tour guides are friendly, hospitable, and dedicated to serving the community.
To commemorate the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2023), throughout the month of May, local people and thousands of tourists from all over the country came to lay flowers and offer incense in remembrance of Uncle Ho at the Duc Thanh Historical Site - Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan province branch - where Uncle Ho once stopped to teach before embarking on his journey to find a way to save the nation.
The Duc Thanh Historical Site - Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan Province Branch is a memorial site of invaluable spiritual significance for the people of Binh Thuan in their respect for beloved Uncle Ho. Located in the heart of Phan Thiet city, beside the Ca Ty River, Duc Thanh School was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on December 12, 1986. This is where Uncle Ho, then known as Nguyen Tat Thanh, taught from September 1910 to February 1911. With dedication and affection, he imparted cultural knowledge and instilled patriotism in his students before going to Saigon and then abroad to seek a way to save the country. Among the crowds visiting Uncle Ho's site, everyone wants to learn more about his life and career, as well as personally light incense at his altar, remembering his immense contributions to the country and the Vietnamese people.
Ms. Le Thi Hong (a tourist from Hanoi) said that visiting the Duc Thanh historical site allowed her to hear simple stories about President Ho Chi Minh from the past, and to see his artifacts, which further strengthened her love and respect for him. Nguyen Bao Ngoc (from Phan Thiet city) shared: “It was truly meaningful for us to personally light incense at President Ho Chi Minh’s altar on his birthday. Remembering him, we vow to strive to study hard and become good children and excellent students.”
This May, the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan branch is organizing an exhibition of documentary and artistic photographs with the theme "The Everyday Beauty of President Ho Chi Minh." These are important historical images and documents capturing moments in the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. In addition, the exhibition also features an artistic photography space showcasing the natural landscapes, land, and people of Binh Thuan to visitors. According to the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan branch, the exhibition aims to honor and praise the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the Vietnamese nation, expressing boundless respect and gratitude towards him. Through this, it encourages cadres, soldiers, and all sectors of the population to actively and effectively implement the "Study and follow the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh"; contributing to the education of revolutionary traditions and patriotism for cadres, the people, especially the younger generation, in today's renewal process.
In addition, the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan branch collaborates with other units to organize ceremonies reporting achievements; thematic exchange programs "Visiting old schools to remember Uncle Ho"; honoring young doctors; screening documentary films about Uncle Ho…
#####rCurrently, the Duc Thanh historical site still preserves many original artifacts such as: a set of long benches, wooden planks, a writing desk, a standing cabinet, a document box, an inkstone, etc. These are sacred relics associated with the time and history of the years when teacher Nguyen Tat Thanh taught in Phan Thiet. Within the grounds of the historical site, there is also the starfruit tree that teacher Nguyen Tat Thanh used to water and care for, which the locals now call the Duc Thanh Starfruit Tree or the Ho Chi Minh Starfruit Tree...
Not only has the Duc Thanh historical site become a "red address" for agencies, units, officials, Party members, and the people to engage in political activities and ideological education, fostering the younger generation's awareness of learning and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, but it has also become an indispensable tourist attraction for visitors to Binh Thuan. From the beginning of 2023 to the present, the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan branch has welcomed more than 69,000 visitors for sightseeing, research, and study, including about 150 international visitors.
