According to the General Department of Customs, in January 2024, Vietnam's tea exports reached 12,398 tons, worth more than 21 million USD, down 9.7% in volume and 10% in value compared to the previous month but up about 85% in both volume and value compared to the same period in 2023.

In terms of average export price, in January 2024, Vietnam's average tea export price reached 1,694 USD/ton, equivalent to the average export price in January 2023 but slightly down 3% compared to the average export price for the whole year of 2023.

In January 2024, Vietnam's tea exports reached 12,398 tons, worth more than 21 million USD.

In terms of export markets, in January 2024, Vietnamese tea was exported to 16 markets, down 1 market compared to January 2023 (Philippines), and down 3 markets compared to the whole year of 2023, including the Philippines, Kyrgyzstan and Kuwait.

Of which, Pakistan continues to be the largest tea export market of Vietnam, accounting for 36.7% of the total volume and 43.7% of the total tea export turnover of the country, with 4,556 tons, equivalent to nearly 9.2 USD, up 33% in volume and 52% in value over the same period last year. Pakistan is also a market with a relatively high average tea export price (2,013 USD/ton), higher than the average export price of tea.

Coming in second is the Taiwanese market (China). With a growth rate of about 87% in both export volume and value, reaching 928 tons, worth nearly 1.4 million USD, Taiwan has increased one rank in the ranking of Vietnam's largest tea export markets.

Third place belongs to the US with a total tea export volume of 913 tons, equivalent to a turnover of more than 1.2 million USD, an increase of 191% in volume and nearly double in value compared to the same period.

As the fastest growing market among the top 5 tea export markets of Vietnam, China recorded a growth of 412% in volume and 145% in value, reaching 701 tons and over 1 million USD. However, because the increase in tea export volume was much higher than the increase in turnover, the average tea export price to the Chinese market decreased by more than half compared to the same period, from 3,067 USD/ton to 1,469 USD/ton.

Poland is the market that recorded the strongest increase, up to 5.4 times in volume and 6.6 times in value compared to the same period last year, reaching 129 tons, worth 188,881 USD.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recorded the second highest increase, with an increase of 409% in volume and 377% in value, reaching 173 tons, with a turnover of 379,221 USD.

In general, the average export price of tea to most markets fluctuates around 1,300 USD/ton - 1,600 USD/ton. However, Vietnam still records some markets with average export prices much higher than other markets.

In January 2024, the average export price of tea to the German market reached nearly 7,579 USD/ton, an increase of 105% compared to 3,696 USD/ton in the same period last year. Tea exports to Germany increased by only 12% in volume but increased by 130% in value, reaching 19 tons, equivalent to a turnover of 143,992 USD.

In addition, some markets also recorded high average export prices compared to other markets such as Saudi Arabia (2,546 USD/ton), UAE (2,192 USD/ton), Pakistan (2,013 USD/ton).

Besides, there are also some markets that recorded a decrease in average tea export prices and at low levels such as Malaysia (684 USD/ton, down 13% compared to the same period last year), Indonesia (991 USD/ton, down 9%)...
